Speech in Noise Oticon Xceed 2

I currently wear Oticon Xceed 2.
I have a program set for speech in noise.
Is the speech in noise program supposed to turn off all the background noise to where I am only hearing the persons voice that I am facing ?
Right now my program makes everything loud. It enhances the persons voice I am facing, but it also makes all the surrounding noises louder too.
Is this what it’s supposed to be?
My husband and I are avid bowlers. We’re at the bowling alley just about every day.
Anyone who has been in a bowling alley knows how loud it can get.
I would like to be able to hear my friends that are standing close to me better than what I do at the present. Some days I can barely hear them, depending on the loudness level of the alley.
Maybe this is the best I can get, considering my hearing loss.
I just thought I would ask how everyone else who has the speech in noise program how they like theirs and does it work the same way mine does.

Oticon allow you to hear 360 from my understanding.

I hear way more noise with my Oticon Xceed 1 UP than my Phonaks but it’s good as I couldn’t hear very much noise with my Phonaks.

I also like the 360 aspects of the xceeds.
The speech in noise setting is supposed to supress the background noise allowing you to hear in noisy places.
I believe, the speech in noise programs turns off the 360 setting, and directional microphones are used, allowing the audiologist to turn down background noise so you can hear better in a noisy place, like a restaurant etc.
I’m not quite sure if I am correct on this.
But on my aids, the background noise is loud. My audi said she has the background noise turn down as far as she can.
I was just curious if I’m understanding speech in noise correctly.

I can’t remember what it’s called but there’s a feature in the App that helps background noise.

I’m impressed that you do as well as you do with that hearing loss. You have no hearing at frequencies 1-3 Khz, where the speech information is. I think the best you could do would be not to have 360 degree hearing, but to use beam forming, where sound directly in front of you is amplified. I find that helps when I bowl.

Your hearing is extremely profound. Have you thought of cochlear implants?
As for background noise, try changing the microphone direction so you can hear better when facing people talking.

Thank you for responding.
My audi did incorporate a program where she stopped the 360 and went to a directional microphone that focuses on the front.
It does help quite a bit, but it seems to still pick up a lot of background noise, that I was hoping she could suppress.
This may be as good as it gets.
But I am happy that I do as well as I do.
