@Um_bongo Any idea why they (Boots & Specsavers) offer 4 years warranty, while online retailer offer 5 years warranty?
Thx

Not sure, there might be a deal with the parent company, Sonova own 50% of Boots HC.
My other thought was the marketing/upgrade cycle. If you give someone five years they won’t upgrade as often. In a hearing aid ‘career’ that could be the difference between one or two more pairs of aids. At an accounting level, billing at four year cycles is obviously 20% better for turnover than five year cycles.

Just looked at the Unitron Moxi V9-R and Phonak Lumity L90 specs on an online retailer site Hearingaid.org.uk23, and it looks as though they have nearly exactly same specs, only differences I could see is they call the same technology by different names, namely Hyperfocus and Smartspeech respectively, and the all round in car function is manual on Unitron and automatic on Phonak. So not really a problem, considering the price difference, assuming that model is correct for the Specsavers version.?

Yep as you’ve found out Sonova uses the the same parts bin for their models, so given the price difference I agree, just the Specsavers are locked, so you’ll only be able to go through them.

Yep, that’s not really a problem for me, the shop is just 5 minutes away on a retail park. So parking not a problem. I have Boots hearing aids at the moment and have to pay a premium to park in the city car parks to get a service, adjustment etc. I can’t think of a reason why I would want to go somewhere else to adjust and service them anyway.

Well there’s always the chance when your out of town or on holiday, if there’s no Specsavers… well you’d just have to wait until you got home, but glad you’re getting a better deal through them, just out of curiosity, did you check Costco out, they don’t carry Phonak models, but have very good prices and warranty and not beholden for adjustments, the warranty is pretty good too.

Yes, I can always take my old Boots ones as spare set. No I haven’t tried Costco, didn’t think of it tbh. I think I’ll stick with Specsavers anyway, seems a good choice. Time will tell.

Just looked at Costco hearing aids on line, they don’t do them anyway at my local branch. Only 7 locations in UK, none in Wales. So that narrows the choice down
