Absolutely Kev, I can’t agree more, my gripe is simply that people need to know that they are indeed “trial” and will need to be reset, so one needs to include the extra cost of the programming device (in this case Noahlink wireless) and be willing to learn how this is done in target, I never knew about the Roger accessories, indeed a very good extra to have, now I wonder if it’s possible to transfer these to another set? Would be a cheaper option if that’s all you wanted.
I would imagine @tenkan, the only way for us mere mortals to remove the licenses from these, Naida Lumity Trial UP’s would be a Roger X Installer, and 2 x empty Roger X type (02) Receivers, of course, the Licenses could be embedded in the trial aids, if so, then they are married to the aids… Cheers Kev
I just looked at this item, and some others from the same seller. The Lumity trials are cheaper than their Naida P30 UPs, and the Lumity is shipped from Delhi, India, while the P30 is shipped from Potters Bar in the UK. The location of the Lumity would normally be a red flag to me, so would likely scroll past, unless the seller was personally recommended. “Phona k” appears in all the sellers items, so is certainly deliberate. The seller certainly hasn’t appeared in any of my recent searches. With all this aside, the price is very good.
Their process of programming to a recent , then shipping out with appropriate domes is similar to Wholesale Hearing, but as we all know here, that is only the start.
When my P90s arrived, they were slightly disappointing, as speech recognition was only marginally better than the NHS Marvel M70s they were replacing. This may be unique for me, as I suspect my high frequency Tinnitus requires higher gains in those frequencies to compensate, than ‘just hearing those frequencies’?? However, I needed a cooperative audiologist to fine tune them, and (along with custom slimtips) he certainly did that. Since then, I’ve got Target and a Noahlink Wireless, so I have many options, but others might not.
Considering the huge costs of hearing aids in USA, where some will quite easily shell out $7000 for a pair, £500 is roughly 10%. Even though UK private costs are cheaper, its because of this, that I’ve explored all options including getting the best out of my backup NHS aids and the purcha
se of the incoming Naida P30s. This forum has been the only reliable resource to help me do this. The Facebook groups are full of poor advice and smoke and mirrors.
Happy for you. Hope you can and keeps extending the 10 weeks trial period. Time flies! In a year, you just have to adjust 5-6 times. A big saving for the ’s that come with Roger 02 pre installed.
Might try to buy from them in the future.
That was me, and yes it’s 12 weeks. Might depend on the country?
Anyway I most of the time connect to Target far more often. And each time it will be reset. No problem at all!
Says they are Phonak Naida Lumity Trial UP’s @Baltazard that means the can effectively be set to any level, 30, 50, 70 or 90… But I believe they come set up to L90? Says free postage via FedEx, that’s usually 4 or 5 days from Asia, and anther 3 or 4 days to clear UK customs… Cheers Kev
I think it all depends on what they stick on the ticket @michael1… I bought a Roger X Installer from South Korea for approximately £150, no import tax charge…
I think if you go above certain threshold, then, the taxman will be wanting some piece of the pie.
I did send some stuff to mainland Europe few years ago, and I got hit with customs from DE.
My Naida P30 UP aids arrived this morning so I wasted no time and have initially connected them up to my thin/tube-slimtip combo. This combo isn’t an option in Target, so I’ve selected mo(u)lds and ‘un-damped’ ( @kevels55 its a tick box). Hopefully, this setup will be fine, as I find it more comfortable than full mo(u)lds. If it just doesn’t work, I can switch.
I used my last , and some lows and mids are above the base level, so I’m being ultra cautious. I’m using for now, so I can compare the fittings with the Audeo P90s. I’ve done a ‘first fit’. I’ve also transferred my Roger Licenses from my NHS Nathos Nova M (Bolero Marvel M70)'s which will probably never be used again. They’re now in a box with my Nathos Micro+ (Spice+) and Nathos Auto (Venture). I’ve also connected up Roger Select, Roger On and two TV Connectors, and two Android phones, with the app on one, so they are fully up and running.
First impressions:
P30 v P90 in Target
Autosense 4 only has: Calm Situation, and Speech in Noise as options, with Music as an additional program. I selected this, and disabled Autosense as I have the P90s and M70s. I also selected manual switching and disabled SoundRecover2 in all programmes. I also selected “6” in whistleblock in all programmes. The Hearing aids are bigger, but fit fine.
First Fit
Firstly, nothing seems to be blowing my head off, which is good, but the highs aren’t there for speech recognition, but that was the same for M70 & P90, some adjustment will be needed, especially in the frequencies where my Tinnitus is. The P30s have 12 adjustment frequencies, whereas the P90s have 20.
One unusual observation was when I tested Bluetooth streaming with some quiet music. As soon as I pressed play, both dogs, and my wife, looked at me! They’ve heard streaming before, but this was instant. I’m thinking it may be the thin tubes. Time will tell I suppose.
They do, but all those aids are disposable battery, where their rechargeable equivalents are considerably bigger. I just nipped down the pub, to test these, and I still have work to do, as speech recognition was poor. I boosted the highs too much
Hi Peter, glad you got your Naida P30’s hopefully they will serve you well if you are needing any twin wall tubing, let me know? I have been playing pool all weekend, a big competition here in the Scottish Highlands, a 9 man team event, 16 teams, played over Friday to Sunday, players from as far north as Shetland & Orkney, and as far east as Aberdeen, and all points in between, we got beat 10-7 in the quarter finals… Anyway it was loud, in there, exceptionally loud, I don’t recall the Chieftain Hotel in Inverness, ever being louder, 5 tables going, 3 TV’s, Jukebox absolutely blaring, folks singing, the clatter of Pool balls, around 200 bodies crammed into approximately an area, about 100ft x 50ft, we could hardly move to shoot pool!!! 10am till 2am, 14 hours of unabated noise on Saturday, suffice to say I was knackered, both mentally and physically but the Naida Lumity UP’s held up well, I am or I should say, was a bit of a social animal, and I have literally coached hundreds of players all over Scotland, a few world champions included, so I am well known, within the pool circles, probably a couple of dozen of my prodigious where in there… Now normally I would wait, and go outside for a chat, not this time, I did my rounds several times around the venue, various conversations in the midst of that racket!!! Now, could I hold a conversation, the answer is a unequivocal yes, was it challenging, yes it was, but if I was up close and in someone’s personal space, I could hear fine, some of it, my lip reading filled in the blanks…TBVH, it was the first time in absolutely years, that I felt relaxed in a severe/ adverse listening environment, I was in my element amongst kindred spirits… Cheers Kev
Sounds like you’ve had a great weekend, with the occasional pint too . The Naida Lumity UP really seem to work well for you, with Autosense5 being your friend. I noticed you make little adjustments to give your hearing an extra chance, like moving nearer the speaker. That sounded like one very challenging environment, with all the balls cracking around the room along with laughing and loud music. I test my hearing aids in my local pub that has the pool end in an echoey annexe, with a high ceiling. When the Juke box is on, it’s difficult.
Regarding the Naida P30s, I’ve really been at a loss all weekend, as they just didn’t give me any top end. I went down the pub, and speech recognition was frankly terrible. This morning, I had a thought!
When l set them up, I used a hearing test I did with my Audeo P90 . Today, I decided to run the feedback/real ear test, and recheck my *. The difference was staggering, with many frequencies 10-15dB worse! Needless to say, all frequencies are within the fitting range. RICs and are quite different I guess, as the RIC is much nearer to the eardrum. I did this test with thick tubes and moulds, but repeated it with thin tubes and slimtips, and those results were similar. First impressions of the reprogramming are far better, although I’m in the house, alone, with the dogs for company. My wife and I are at the pub quiz tonight so I shall be there, with both sets of hearing aids, my Roger on and 2 phones with the MyPhonak app. I shall swap Slimtips for moulds to compare all scenarios. Tomorrow afternoon, I shall be in there again, to test any changes I will have made, and of course, have a few pints and a laugh. I’m still using APD2 for now. I would have enjoyed your weekend
Peter
*I can imagine Audiologists and self programmers on here shaking their heads at my schoolboy error. I’ll sure I’ll make many more.
