Hi @kevels55 , just wonder whether Roger OnIn is similar to Roger Table Mic in a lot of function. I sometimes used it a TV sound transmitter and table mode when in an open air cafe. These gadgets are pretty expensive when new. A battery change might help, if the Lipo fit the holding space. Careful of the connector head - 3 wires. Some of the Roger OnIn screen become blank, so have to used the Roger Mic Apps to adjust the function after install the licence by trial and error. The Apps is very useful.

Yeah @danka, I have changed the batteries before on a Roger Select iN, quite a struggle to get a slightly larger battery into the case, a few expletives were used in the process  Soldering in the battery is tricky, I dispensed with the yellow wire! I bought that “Select” knowing the battery was goosed, I am unsure as to the purpose of the yellow wire, but the Select runs perfectly, charges, and the runtime is longer, price wise, I got an excellent deal… Cheers Kev

It is quite easy to get it done in the mobile phone shop here esp the soldering process. Have you encounter blank screen (nothing is shown on the screen). When it is switched on, it is functioning.

I have Roger Select and Roger On. Have you ever noticed any differences in real life conditions like table party? I am aware of the MultiTalker Network, so I assume I would only be using 1 TableMic.

I have:
Roger On (V1)
Roger Select
Roger Table Mic II

They all work very well, and in a similar way. If I use a Roger device, it’s usually the Roger On for 3 reasons:

  1. It has its own App, to switch modes or microphone directions, if out of reach.
  2. It raises far fewer questions such as: “What’s that?” or “Are you recording this?”
  3. It charges with USB-C, whereas the others use the older Micro-USB

Thanks for clarification.

I am curious if you can choose the person you are talking to, for example if you are at one end of the 6 person table and are talking to someone on an independent topic relative to the opposite end (1 TableMic on the table).

I think it is:

  1. A bigger battery, but also a bigger form factor (I estimate even 4–6 times more occupied volume).
  2. The possibility of making a smaller or bigger “bubble” in which speech is received.

BUT

  1. There is no possibility to choose the desired direction of beamforming.

  2. Grossly expensive.

  3. No phone app (Roger Select also has no app).

Perhaps @kevels55 and @PeterH could add something.

There is IMO, far greater clarity with Table Mic 2, allegedly 16 hours runtime, I believe there are 6 Mic’s, the Table Mic will analyse the sound scope, and lock onto the strongest , it is a wonderful piece of kit, grossly expensive as @Bimodal_user states! But you can pick them up on eBay second hand, for around a 10th of the new price, sometimes even cheaper… I got one for a song, for which I am very grateful, I have 2 remotes, 2 cases, 3 Table Mic 2’s, tis the old “Boy Scout” in me, be prepared! I had originally planned to sell a complete set, but I am a hoarder, and dearth to part with anything, in case one malfunctions, then I have spares! They are exceptionally good at what they do, but not perfect, IMO far better than any other Roger devices, but the price for most folks is extremely prohibitive, but then again, they are expensive for a reason, top quality items, command top prices… But, you can circumvent these prices via eBay. Cheers Kev

I would rather wait for something like a Roger TableMic III with app control of the MultiTalker Network, which could automatically mark the battery charges, the highest , the second highest, etc.

The app could also allow us to choose the desired directionality, as with RogerOn.

Maybe a “III” with features? Who knows.

Maybe the “smaller bubble” feature would help, but there is no guarantee. I doubt it, but you may give it a try.

@Mike59 said:

The main problem I have with the Select and the On is that it amplifies all the surrounding voices

I’ve heard that hearing aid microphones are used for noise assessment for Roger, but Phonak didn’t provide any tips for hearing aid adjustments for Roger, except for the Roger “verification mode” (check that) from -8 through 0 dB to +8 dB.

What’s interesting to me, is that the Table Mic 3 has options for ‘short pick-up range’ and ‘long pick-up range’. So for a group of people in a quiet but fairly large room, I’d choose the ‘long pick-up range’, and presumably for a table of four in a noisy restaurant, then the ‘short pick-up range’ might help in not picking up voices from surrounding tables. But maybe that is a bit simplistic!

Table Mic II
This is very clear and seems more robust than either the Select, or On. I understand the TableMic works better with the remote, as you can use it to focus on near or distant voices. I haven’t got a remote though so haven’t witnessed this. (Micro USB)

Roger On
After a recent Update, in Table mode, it works in stereo now, which help to distinguish which voices to concentrate on. With the App, you can easily focus the area you want to concentrate on. Pointer mode now has 2 levels of focus (narrow and wide). It can be used as a partner mic. It can also be used as a TV Connector (USB-C)

Roger Select
Smaller than the TableMic, but works in a similar manner. It has 6 microphones, which can be selected by tapping the top of the unit, to focus on areas. It can also be used as a partner mic and a TV Connector. I rarely use the Select, but it does work as it should. (Micro USB)
