I first brought up this topic 6 months ago for advice, and it was generally positive. Since then, I have been using my 24/7 (except for showering) and it has been going very well.
I have Widex ’s with standard tubes and full shell soft molds, #13 batteries. I found several advantages and few disadvatages sleeping with my aids:
- In an emergency (like grandkids sleeping over), I can hear them at night
- I can stream music or books without my wife hearing anything.
- I feel very comfortble wearing my aids, less so without them
Moisture is a potential problem, but I don’t sweat very much. I have a dryer and my audiologist always dries them when she checks them. I never accumulate much moisture. Another minor problem is the aids will sometimes squeal when I turn over in bed.
I have always prefered batteries to rechargeables. Batteries are cheap and easily replaced. Most important, I do not have to give up my aids to place them in the charger. I have a backup pair of , but I prefer to wear my BTEs.
