Turning off soundrecover (frequency shifting and compression)

I wear naida paradise UP P30 hearing aids and I had sent my hearing aids to maintenance before the warranty expired.

After my hearing aids got back from maintenance and quality control, I was at the audiologist with my wife for a new fitting . My wife complained about my speech quality being worse with hearing aids than without . And my audiologist suggested that we try the aids without soundrecover and did the fitting that way. I didn’t want to have the soundrecover feature turned off but I accepted trying.

For now, I think I can hear up to 7000 hz according to some sound samples from an android app. It was 10 khz with soundrecover on.
Does 7000 hz roof limit my hearing human speech range? I don’t want to miss any speech sounds.

If when you’re taking your test you hear actual tones (rather than a staticky sound) at 6000 and 8000 Hz I don’t think frequency shifting would help you. Although there is some evidence that being able to hear frequencies above 8000 Hz is helpful, I don’t think there’s any evidence if it’s achieved via frequency shifting. You have a relatively flat loss. I think you’re likely better off with it off. You do have quite a loss though. What are your word recognition scores like? Has your audiologist ever mentioned the possibility of a cochlear implant eval?

If I start from scratch with a new pair of in Target, SoundRecover2 is enabled as default, even with my loss. I find this astonishing, as I’ve plenty left in the high frequencies to not need this. It’s as if Phonak use it as a tool to fight against feedback. I disable it, as it makes things sound wrong, and ruins music (for me)

I’d definitely encourage an evaluation if you haven’t had one. Hard to make a decision without having good information. Typical response on the forum is people wishing they hadn’t waited so long.

I had two evaluation in different times and places.
I’m doing better with new settings. I just replaced the right and left sides and increase the gain in the left hearing aid by a click on every wearing with the app.
I’m hearing up to 8000 hz I think it’s decent enough to function
Sounds are crispier than before. I think I had used the aids with lower than necessary gains
I’m going to use the aids a few weeks before for a new fitting.
Only problem is that the aids have a strict sudden loudness control that sometimes interfere with speech signals.
