Puresound was for lowest latency/of processing which gave the impression of better clarity, funny how no one else is interested, Oticon has “brain” hearing…gotta love the marketing departments.

Is it fair to say that Widex are not the best choice outside of the mild to moderate range ?
I have the SmartRICs because I love the PureSound program but , I don’t find the Universal Program “exciting “ (which I very rarely use ).

I’m in the moderately severe to severe range so theoretically not a candidate for puresound.
However I have just been fitted with the new Allure with custom moulds and I must say, my hi fi sounds wonderful in puresound, with just a few minor equaliser adjustments via the app.

The type of signal processing that best suits each individual differs between people. We cannot really say whether one is better for any particular degree of hearing loss, however in theory Widex should provide better sound quality for more open fittings and milder degrees of hearing loss.
I would probably be considering alternatives for many individuals with severe to profound loss who aren’t existing Widex users first as Widex doesn’t currently offer solutions specifically designed for the needs of this population, but rather offers the same solutions as the rest of their portfolio.

For recording musicians and audio engineers, HEARS Perfection VST plugin on the master bus will correct your DAW software to your hearing loss - whether you’re using phones or powered monitors. It’s made recording and mixing a joy again.
For non in-DAW listening on a Windows PC, there’s FXSound - a FREE app that launches on start up, mimimizes in your system tray, and will normalize your system EQ to your hearing loss for YT, Soundcloud type streaming. The FXSound EQ controls do not match your 1:1 nor HEARS Perfection. I found it a bit more aggressive in the controls. Still by A/B comparison between my corrected DAW and the sound coming through the Windows app, I was able to replicate my hearing loss curve enough to make Windows streaming sound normalized for me.

Another option is to use, on Windows, the equalizer APO + Peace. You can do a “hearing test “ and then use the results to create an equalizer setting for your hearing loss.
The downside of using the equalizer approach is that if you have a ski-slope hearing loss, the overall sound volume may be low because the sound hardware has a limited volume range.

What is going on with Equalizer that there are claimed scam websites and seemingly multiple legitimate ones?
