Can anybody explain technical differences between Phonak's AI in Sphere and Oticon Intent and Starkey Edge AI?

I won’t get top of the line ha in two years.
Fingers crossed. Hope this setup is only a little bit off. And we figure it out.

Write a comparison between Sphere and Edge in various settings such as restaurants, cafes, train stations, etc. Your answers will mean a lot to those of us who are unable to do so.

That is very interesting you used Edge mode all Thanksgiving. Did this give you a better sound all the way around? I am doing a trial of the Edge and have been leaving it in plain personal mode except in noisy environments. Maybe I will try the Edge mode for several hours and see how it sounds. Thanks for the tip.

It usually stays in personal mode.
Two loud families at two different houses on Thanksgiving.
Everyone talking over everyone.
So I put it in Edge mode reduce noise.
I do use Edge mode best environment sometimes when I watch TV.

It seems that Cliff Aud will not be doing a detailed review for Starkey Edge . When the Phonak Spheres appeared, he reported on them on record even if he didn’t have them with him. He mentioned the Stakey Edge AI only in a video post where he talks about the best hearing aids in 2025. It seems to me that he gives more attention to Phonak because they pay him for it.

I thought I’d seen him say something about him not being paid for any of his reviews. It may be that his relationship with Phonak is more lucrative.

IIRC, Dr Cliff got pair of Spheres to test ~1 week before Phonak Las Vegas announcement and he even used them during the whole event. Event was reported 1-2 days later and full review maybe 5 days later?
On his channel there are also short with human brain picture which shows potential of Edge mode. I think there will be review soon.
Another story is that Starkey didn’t make any loud announcements. Even Matthew Allsop was surprised why they were so quiet.

I agree that Phonak is Dr. Cliff’s world. I found out about the Starkey Edge 24 from doing a search. I saw some long interviews with Starkey personnel who had worked on the Edge. Even saw Alice Cooper touting Starkey although the video was older than the release of the Edge.
I like the one chip rather than two. The hearing aid is streamlined and fits behind the ear rather well. I’m using them now, but getting what sounds like a kazoo sound when I talk and sometimes with sounds going in. ![]()

It doesn’t in fact work for 51 hours. Just bought the new Edge ai 24 hearing aids about 4 weeks ago. I’m getting about 24 hours on my right hearing aid. I was down to 20% battery left on my left hearing aid at the same time. Also a little bummed that whole the hearing aids are water proof, they aren’t submersible and the receivers aren’t waterproof either.

I love edge mode. I use it almost exclusively. Except in my car. I have a custom mode for just when I’m driving in a car and I’m trying to listen to the radio and hear other people talking. Highway driving has always been an issue for me

If you read enough on this site, you will find that battery life is usually dependent on ones loss.
Mild to moderate losses usually result in longer battery life.
Severe to profound shorter battery life.
They usually omit this from sales literature.

I know what you mean by kazoo sound.
I have distortion so it’s hard for me to distinguish.
I not an expert but I think it has something to do with compression.
Need an expert to chime in here.
I have a music program I use.
I do not notice the kazoo sound on that one.

I had suspected that this was the case, especially since my right ear is significantly worse than my left. Thanks for verifying!
My last pair of hearing aids rechargeable and one of my biggest issues was the batteries not holding a charge after a year or two

You have distortion in your left ear. Does that mean your voice sounds different? How does the sound coming in sound to you with distortion. I might have the same thing and that is why I am asking. Thanks for your reply.

Sounds to me like a broken speaker.
Like I’ve said before, I’m aware of it without my aids in.
I still hear it.
