I’ve learned which Costco aids are equivalent to which Starkey and Phonak HAs (Soundgear amp is Starkey Edge 24 and the Sennheiser Sonite Rise is equivalent to Phonak Audéo Infinio R not the sphere).
How does this work with Amplifon?? Do they rebadge HAs and sell them with their own name and Amplifon apps (which might not be as good as the manufacturer apps)??
Another thing I’ve seen is they discount older HAs – would this apply to Starkey Edge and Phonak Audeo Infinio?? How does this work??
I searched online but have only found generic statements, very little specifics.
Currently Amplifon does not manufacture hearing aids so their aids are all rebranded. In the US their retail outlet is Miracle Ear. I don’t recommend Miracle Ear because they may lock their aids so only they can make adjustments.
Amplifon products vary depending upon the manufacturer being rebranded. Some of them are simple rebrands like their Oticon equivalents. Others have a different feature set from the brand-name product line and require proprietary software to program them. The higher-ups at Amplifon were against the liability added by fall detection features failing to work in hearing aids, so this may be a feature that they remove that you’ll find in name-brand versions of the product. Their amplifon app has won awards, so I’m not sure whether it’s actually worse than what is offered by the specific branded apps. I think it’ll depend on which manufacturer’s app you’re comparing it to.
It is kind of difficult navigating the who own who. But I do know that Amplifon (aka Miracle Ear ) bought GN Resound this spring. I always thought that they were rebranded Signia - Rexton.
The scary part for me is that I was Cochlear Implanted in May and my cochlear company is Cochlear Americas who's hearing aid partner is/was GN Resound. I went with Cochlear, not Advanced Bionics, who is owned and partnered by Phonak. Phonak's link system has better bluetooth compatibility, but I felt that Cochlear's Nucleus 8 Nexa System was technologically ahead of Bionics and it was a shour matter of time that Resound and Cochlear would partned in 6.0 and Aurcast and beamform (I guess it is called). Then they sold out to Amplifon - Miracle ear and no idea what the future holds.
My insurance was similar to the original poster's a year + back and for shucks and grins, I went to a Miracle Ear. I liken them to a bad used car salesman, mattress salesman, TV Injury Lawyer, etc. Then they want like 5-6K on top of your $2500. I ran away fast but, they keep sending junk email and calls. They are pretty low.
I went to a program Audi and and got spheres. Now I have a Sphere in right ear and an implant on left. As, I used to hear weekly when my P's had me at church, I wait in joyful hope for the coming of Cochlear and Resound to get off their happy tails and get the tech out. It IS coming...some day.

Newer Resound aids do have . From my perspective Cochlear is dragging their feet to implement LE Audio. I am bilateral and waiting on LE Audio.
FYI, I wore Phonaks for years, really enjoyed the old classic Bluetooth with hands free phone calls. The Bluetooth on my K2 and N7 processors with Android phones has been just as good as Phonaks classic Bluetooth.
