Yeah @Nevelle, Derma Cream, is a particular favourite of mine, very soothing, and it will cooldown the most irritating itch, if you have someone available to administer the cream on your back… Sods Law usually comes into play, when the itch starts, and no one is available to rub it on… Tortured comes to mind
But such is life…Cheers Kev ![]()

Used a small straight bamboo stick or a small plastic tube to apply the soothing cream or for scratching. You need a mirror to find the itchy spot.

Yeah @danka, I had one of those cream/ointment administrators for my back, but only the lord knows what I did with it
It had a long handle, with a rubberised round tapered disk at one end, you covered the disk (about 3 inches round) with ointment, and tried to then cover the offending spot/itch on your back… Cheers Kev ![]()

Thank you @P11 I shall certainly try this, hopefully I may get similar results, I am very much obliged for this information. Cheers Kev ![]()

Check with a dermatologist. My dermatologist indicated the cause of that was a yeast infection. Who knew? There are prescription KETOCONOZOLE creams and shampoos that kill the yeast. Thanks for your posts, I appreciate your knowledge.

Easier said than done @KingsPoint
the first hurdle is trying to get an appointment with a Doctor, to try to attain an appointment in 10 days time! I called into the Doctors Surgery yesterday, there were no appointments for the next 10 days, I was told to call back in on Monday, and I might get one for a week on Wednesday! I need to see a Doctor to refer me to a Dermatologist, I may see one of them in about 3 months time, if I am lucky, things move slow, via the NHS… @P11, I have ordered the “Silver Water & Almond Oil”, from Amazon, should be here tomorrow… Cheers Kev ![]()

Almond oil is more acidic than water, which is more alkaline, and is similar to the pH of earwax. This makes it less likely to cause an infection.
Other earwax treatments include:
- Olive oil: A natural oil with a similar pH to earwax.
- Sodium bicarbonate: More active than almond or olive oil, and can help break down and disperse earwax.
- Urea hydrogen peroxide: An active ingredient in some ear drops.

The interim fix might be a sulfur containing dandruff shampoo, like Selsun Blue or Head & Shoulders.
Cordially, KP

Tea Tree Oil comes highly recommended for Eczema, Psoriasis & Dandruff, in particular, Tea Tree Oil Shampoo, I use Tea Tree Oil for my eyes, I mix it with cold tea, and leave it in the fridge, approximately 250mls of cold tea in a jar, and about 8 drops of Tea Tree Oil, cures sore or tired eyes, every time… Tis wonderful stuff, I just dip a paper towel in the solution, soak my eye sockets, with my head back in a chair, I try to use it very sparingly (maybe once a week) a small jar will last 2 or 3 months, tis a cheap and cheerful method, but it works well… I have used “Head & Shoulders Shampoo” for many, many years, it works up to a point, but, it still leaves the odd dry patch on my scalp, if I use any other shampoo, within a couple of days, the dandruff is like a dusting of snow on my shoulders, so tonight, I mixed up some Head & Shoulders, with a little Tea Tree Oil, I will try it out tomorrow, with my daily shower, and do so for a few days, to see if we have any improvement… Cheers Kev ![]()

I don’t really get much problems with ear wax @marnold, obviously I get some, but it is minimal… Hydrogen Peroxide, I am familiar with, from my youth, I am very wary of, tis powerful stuff, and I just couldn’t contemplate putting it in my ears… Pressure sores are my main enemy, along with itchy ears, and in my book, prevention is always better, than cure… I could get a Steroid ear spray from the Doctor (whenever, I manage to see one
) But, Steroids aren’t recommended for long term use, I know, I have been guilty of this in the past, I used a Steroid ear spray over many years, but, I would prefer to use something a little kinder, if possible? So, I will experiment with the “Silver Water, and the Almond Oil”… The Silver Water, comes with a small spray, allegedly brilliant for any itch, so I should be able to administer a little on the inside of the canals? I am in the UK and am just at the beginning on this. My ears have always been problematic, with itching and earaches. Originally controlled this with Selsun shampoo and latterly Nizoral, but in the last year things have got worse. Now have discharges from both my ears and have sudden severe hearing loss in my left ear. On the basis of this managed to get NHS aids in four weeks! This is a Phonak Marvel Naida M70-SP . Made an amazing difference - really impressed by the technology - even though not the latest.
However I too am having problems with the supplied earmoulds. I was given the original casts back after they had been to the lab, so I can see that they are type 2112, which is soft silicone. I get painful pressure points in both ears, itching, and sweat build up, so I now tend to alternate between the two and rarely wear both. The bluetooth is great, so I wear both to listen to music in the evenings. Was thinking about going private to get new earmoulds, so was lurking on this thread to pick up ideas.

I’ve just got some hard acrylic moulds for my SPs. They’re superb. The top ones were NHS, I requested the bottom ones from a private firm at just under £100. I get no itching from hard acrylic.
Top aids are Sky Marvel M70 SP. Bottom are Lumity L90 SP. There isn’t a huge difference between them

I told the audiologist to order hard shell skeleton ear molds and it arrived with a tiny vent. I told her that my hearing is very profound and maybe she forgotten what l told her. I just plug the vent hole with a music wire.

Planning a trip to my A.uD very shortly for a set of hard acrylic skeleton shell moulds, no vents… We appear to have solved the psoriasis problem on the scalp, using a mixture of Head & Shoulders & Tea Tree oil, the psoriasis on the scalp at least, in my opinion, is rapidly receding… So I will be experimenting further with Tea Tree oil on my skin, I have a large flare up of psoriasis on my legs, particularly my left leg, the itch is insane, but I have all manner moisturiser, and Derma Cool, when the need arises… Treating my ears with “Colloidal Silver Water” and an Almond oil, twice daily, pressure sores appear to be lessening, by moisturising my ears daily, they have no chance of drying out, and flaking… Cheers Kev ![]()

I haven’t read all the posts but these issues almost sound fungal. Have you tried antifungal treatments?
You’re ignoring this member’s posts.
No Rick, I don’t think it’s fungal, everything points to Eczema or the dreaded Psoriasis, the more I read up, the more convinced I am it’s Psoriasis, but I have high hopes, I will be able to have some form of control over it…I believe, there is no known cure for Psoriasis, at the moment, Tea Tree Oil is looking promising for helping to abate any flare ups… Cheers Kev ![]()

Right folks, I spent the last couple of weeks, trying to get an appointment with a doctor or physician to our American cousins, our once great institution, the NHS, has been decimated, by neglect and severe underfunding by the Tory’s (Conservative Party) over the last 14 years, so much so, it’s on it’s knees… My Local Doctors surgery, has no doctors as such, only Locums, so getting an appointment is like looking for hens teeth! So we are basically left to self diagnose… Goggle is our friend
In desperation, on Monday, I called into the surgery again, I explained after I spoke to a receptionist, I had been trying to get an appointment for over a week and a half, I was being driven insane by a severe rash, on both legs, I needed medication, namely Steroid cream, and Derma Cool for the itch, to my amazement she gave me an appointment in 3 hours time! What I didn’t know was, it wasn’t a doctor I was seeing, but a specialist practitioner nurse, she was excellent at her job though… I told the nurse, after much reading up on the WEB, I believed, I had Varicose Eczema, she had a look at both legs, and agreed, and proscribed a Steroid cream & Derma Cool… My legs are now on the mend, the itch has gone, and the rash is now gradually getting smaller, hopefully it will have disappeared by next week? As far as the ears are concerned, that wasn’t discussed, it’s either Eczema or Psoriasis, both ears are now getting a little Steroid cream for pressure sores, and also gradually getting better, so all is fine… It is amazing how an itch can focus your mind, and an Eczema itch is like no other for intensity, so much so, I would defy anyone to not scratch it! The Eczema flare up was bad, especially my left leg, my skin felt like rough leather, strangely for me at least, Steroids give me a euphoric feeling, immediately after use, I can understand how some folks might misuse these Tropical Medicines… Cheers Kev ![]()
