Basically the question in the comments. At the start of the year, I suffered a ruptured varicose vein in my left leg last Friday (which means more doctor visits taking up my time from work), and I have not generally been happy with having to and glue my own ear tubing from my new audiologist myself every 30 days (never had to do that with my former audiologist). So, it doesn’t make sense to continue with them at this time. And my former audiologist works well with my schedule, not having to travel a long way and take time off work to go see them. Anyway. I wasn’t considering this before my latest health issues but what happened has forced me to seek changes in my hearing care.
Eventually, I am not opposed to going back to Phonak especially considering the new advances being made. And the fact that they don’t seem to have the repeated random reboots I have experienced with Oticon (on a $5,000 device that really made me a bit sour on them…even with my replacement I still get the random reboot and it mostly occurs when noise hits its peak loudness - such as if my mom’s yelling or a door slams, for example, about 90% of the time. The rest of the 10% of the time it’s entirely random at quiet times). Also, now I continue to have to go to my doc once every 2-3 weeks, and lately it’s gotten worse to once a week, when before 2019 I only had to go once every 6 months. So I am not happy with that. It seems like, when doing an annual evaluation, I simply traded one set of issues for another. I think I’d rather have the other set of issues compared to these, especially when Phonak doesn’t have random reboots.
Anyway. Is the Phonak Sphere Infinio coming anytime soon? It looks like they are only available in an (receiver in the canal) version at the moment. It seems like February and August are the times to watch out for the new release information of a variety of different form factors.
