Converting WIRE + speaker to TUBE + speaker

I have an extra pair of Lumity Life rechargeable aids that have the ear wire + speaker on the end. I want to give them to my dear 99.99 yr old mom (turns 100 in May!) along with a Roger mic, but she has custom earmolds. Can anyone here tell me if she could just have her tubes + custom mold plugged in to my rechargeable Phonaks?

In looking at the top of the aids, it doesn’t look like the hole would accommodate a tube.

With receiver-in-the-canal hearing aids like the Lumity Life devices, sound does not come out of the top of the hearing aid like a traditional hearing aid, and as of right now Phonak does not have a conversion kit to turn a hearing aid into a BTE.

All this being said, obviously Phonak can make an earmold to go on the end of the receiver, but this would involve an additional purchase. If was super adventurous, I may see what I could do by removing the tubing from the earmold and just see if you could securely insert the receiver into the earmold’s sound bore/tubing channel. I am highly doubtful that would work, but it would certainly save some money if it did!

Ah! I think you just nailed it right there. I didn’t know how the two types of aids work, but it appears that my mom’s Phonaks require that custom earmold with its speaker embedded in it. That earmold is then connected to her BTE unit with the tubing. I don’t think she could force that tubing into my rechargeables “bean” that goes behind the ear.

So it’s a bust for my donation… I’ll send flowers instead on her birthday!

No one does actually, defeats the purpose of having two different types.

Say what! You’d need to be a bit more then “super adventurous” you don’t know any Harry Potter types by any chance…

LOL! Thanks for posting that, cuz I was hoping for a magic wand kinda solution here … now I can rest easy that my TWO (redundant!) pairs of Phonak Lumity Life aids will stay with me for now - one has been mothballed ever since I got the 312-battery Phonaks cuz I had to xfer the Roger mic license to my new aids.

I have converted earmolds with tube to use with Reciver in Canal aids .
just remove the tube and see if the reciver will go into the ear molds …if not you or someone with tools can drill out the earmold to fit the recievers
OR take your mother ear molds to your aud. and have him make new molds for the receivers … My ear mold cost me about $100 to have them made.

It also depends on your mother hearing loss… If the luminitys are powerful enought … might need HP or UP receivers for her loss.

Yeah I’d go with having new custom made for the receiver’s, always works out, I had some soft silicone molds and I could swap out for different sized receiver’s.

They need to be reprogrammed anyway. Get new molds so she still has the old as backups
