This has been quite interesting to me.
I had sent my naida paradise p30 up hearing aids for maintenance before warranty expire time. I have been temporarily fitted with my older aids at the audiologist office with not too bad settings. They were louder than my current aids.
When I got back home, I had realized that my naida aids were somewhat quieter than necessary. With my older aids , even though fine setting are not totally right, I was able to hear my wife and son better than naidas.
I thought about this issue and decided to go the audiologist with my family for new fitting when current aids got back from maintenance . Thiis time I made the audiologist set gains listen my wife and son instead of the audiologist. This allowed me to compare new settings better with them.
Apparently, going to hearing fitting with someone whom I you know and are accustomed to their voice, allows better adjustments. Just listening to the audiologist didnt give me the comparison I need.
I can now hear better than the two years of using naidas with previous settings.
