Acrylic or Titanium Moulds

Hello, I am currently in the process of getting upgrades from P90 to i90 sphere for my severe-profound hearing loss. One issue I keep getting with existing P90 is that the acrylic cShells have broke a few times (ie cracks, wire damage etc).

My audiologist said I can have titanium moulds or acrylic moulds. However advised titanium moulds would not have the concha lock that I currently have.

Can anyone outline the main differences other than titanium are stronger (and durable?).

I am hoping that I am getting the titanium ear molds. All my audiologist said I was getting a different material.

While its a personal choice, I have found that silicone molds (skeleton type) work best for me, after trying acrylic in a few styles. I find the comfort level to be higher as well as they seal better. I also like that I can easily change my own receivers with silicone molds. I know others that love their Ti and acrylic molds, it really comes down to personal choice.

Everything your ordered is normally listed inside the Health Visitation Notes of your visit.

My Aids were spelled out as:

“Will order: PHONAK AUDEO I90-RSPHERE w/ slim tip AOV vent”

My AuD furnished my to Phonak so they could specify the required venting, but assuming your aids will probably have larger 105 or similar size receivers he may have defined everything in your note.

Please review your records and see if I’m correct…

You are right I haven’t looked in the records in some time.

Has anyone used phonak retention coating for the titanium earmolds? I got new impressions done today. Started to feel loose after some weight loss. Ordered acrylic mold with retention/canal lock. Audiologist told me about the coating. But gave me both options. Asked about silicone skeleton mold. Said it wasn’t a option for my hearing aid (Lumity life). No particular reason for me choosing acrylic. Just wanted to try them.
