After about 6 weeks, feeling like my hearing aids are quiet

Widex Moment sheers, I just did a new in situ hearing test the other day (my heaeing was actually a little better than my last one, but barely), and since then it seems like my hearing aids are quiet, especially by the end of the day. They are set on adaptation (widex speak for level) #2 out of 4 levels. Is this when it’s time to raise up a level? This is all new to me. Thanks

The adaptation is only so that you don’t reject hearing aids as being helpful because they are too loud. But, truth be told, the real problem is that your brain has just become accustomed to low volumes.

Don’t be a wimp. Crank em up to 100% volume and deal with it. :wink:

Thanks PVC - I might just do that. I’m actually glad that I seem to be acclimatizing. Doing dishes was painful there for a while (at least that’s what i told my wife:)

I completely agree - after having aids for a short while I put them at 100% I got used to them fairly quickly and didn’t like it at lower levels. Another thing I frequently change on mine (this is a resound setting, but others may be similar) is noise reduction and environmental controls. By default mine would lower the volume in loud environments. I get the idea but for me it just made it hard to get people. I make sure the environmental doesn’t change the level in noise and turn off, or way down, the noise reduction and it’s been so much better for me.
