This is pretty big news. Anker, a massive global consumer electronics company, just announced it's jumping into the hearing aids market later this year. Their product will deliver denoising and 4-mic array processing through a proprietary chip, fast charging, is IP68 rated.
I don't know that any company with this much direct-to-consumer market potential has ever offered a receiver-in-canal (the preferred style for the vast majority of consumers) style hearing aid. We've had Sony and Sennheiser get involved, but more in brand licensing deals that seemed to leave the marketing up to companies that traditionally don't do end-user marketing with WSA behind Sony and Sonova behind Sennheiser. With Anker jumping in directly like this, it could really advance things in terms of raising awareness and pushing people to take the next step. We also have Apple and Samsung offering OTC through AirPods Pro and Galaxy Buds, respectively, but these are not and don't offer the same all-day-wear and own-voice comfort.
I am also told by industry insiders that designing / manufacturing their own chip is a huge deal. Most OTC companies don't do that.
Launch expected later in 2026.
