I just bought a new TV (Costco, of course - matching Costco's warranty at Best Buy, etc. made the TV much more expensive). I made sure it had an optical output, but the manual did not show an internal speaker+optical option that my old LG TV had.
I attached an optical cable and my ReSound TV Streamer+ to the TV before turning it on. It turns out that my new TCL TV has an 'Internal Speaker + Subwoofer' option which recognized that there was an optical fiber present, so it automagically sends the output to the streamer while using the internal speakers. I had seen a Reddit post to that effect, but ... I mean ... Reddit....
I understand that works only for people who'll be satisfied with the internal speakers, but my W is happy with them, so I lucked out. Personally, I wish I could use a soundbar at a volume leve that wouldn't annoy my downstairs neighbor.
In any case, there are probably other TVs that send light to optical cables unexpectedly.

I experimented with using my Multi-Mic the way the Jabees seems to work. The Multi-Mic's volume wasn't enough for me. Also, my company's insurance pays for the TV Streamer+ but not for a Jabees tool.
Since the Jabbees costs so much less than a Multi-Mic, the Jabees is probably worth a shot. Good luck with the product!
