bernafon HAs can the BT ID changed?

I recently received a new pair of Bernafon hearing aids (funded by the UK NHS). I discovered that they are Bluetooth-enabled, and I can disable Bluetooth by pressing a button for a few seconds. However, my name is broadcast as the Bluetooth ID. I emailed Bernafon, and they said that I could change it at my audiologist. However, my audiologist said that it is linked to my first name. I don’t understand this policy. Is there any way to change it, even if it requires a “hack”? thanks!

Haven’t worked with Bernafon software since Oasis 20-something. So this is speculation.

Yes, change the first name to whatever-you-like. Just prefix another identifier to your name.
Your problem seems a human one, not a technical one.
If the Bernafon software is linked to Noah software and she won’t change that ‘official’ name, Bernafon always had standalone software, too. So then you’ll have to self-program. You’ll need a Noahlink wireless, Bernafon software and a PC with windows.

Thanks for the reply. I understand is bad news for me, mainly as their s/ware is nowhere to buy it . Really weird policy from bernafon, connecting the ID with the customer’s first name wtf are they smoking, looks like I am going give those back and press the darn NHS to provide me something with better privacy.

I think someone on this site will be able to help you get the software for free. The Noahlink Wireless will typically set you back between 100€-200€.

Hi there, yeah that a real bummer, but seems to me you could change it as @Markismus states, one thing to remember is the NHS models are locked in most cases, so you might not be able to do it at all without your audiologists help.

Thank you. No worries, I will keep the Bluetooth turned off and deal with that crap bernafon and - also- the company that provided the hearing aids in another way.
