Best Phonak App Settings for Audeo Infinio Sphere in Noisy Settings

I have Phonak Audeo I90 Sphere hearing aids but find the performance in noisy situations is a bit hit and miss. I’ve gone for fully occluded ear molds and have an option on the app to force Sphere in Noise mode and have fiddled a lot with the App adjustments with mixed results in situations like a noisy restaurant with friends or at a party. I’d be keen to hear from Forum members on what App settings they use for Equalizer, Noise Reduction, Speech focus and Dynamic Range.

I haven’t got Sphere’s but in these situations, when it’s noisy I use speech focus a lot to cut out noise from the sides. I also sometimes reduce Noise Reduction, as I find it reduces the volume of the person I want to hear. With the graphic, I tend to prefer “clarity”, so increase mids and highs.

I use L90 SPs, but these principles will be the same with all ranges.

Thank you Peter. I found your comment on Noise Reduction interesting as I have tended to max it out but have wondered if it might affect voice recognition. I’ll try some of your suggestions.

@Zebras has talked about traditional noise reduction, which is more for steady-state noise. When it’s unnecessarily maxxed up, it definitely can decrease speech comprehension.

With properly fitted Spheric program it shouldn’t be the case, because it is completely different approach to noise reduction.

From my experience - perhaps Speech Focus should be adjusted for not getting unnecessary speeches around you? Maybe wires between your hearing aid housing and earmold are too long and the directionality is negatively affected?

can’t solve the problem if basics are not adjusted properly.

This is what I do with Speech in Noise in: Marvel, Paradise and Lumity.

I just have to remember to move my head. None of these algorithms are perfect, and each element can be customised, but it’s a gradual process.
