Not sure I’ll be telling anyone anything they don’t already know but thought I’d pass on a few tips after recent (& not so recent) bluetooth irks. So the crux is I really dislike how bluetooth just auto connects & there is no way to stop it & even more so, some hosts seem more aggressive with connects than others.
I use bluetooth only for streaming; I find being connected for “all” audio annoying but do like the phonak app connected to tweak if needed (programs, ambient streaming volume…). Then my PC is quite aggressive & will steal the connection from my phone & disconnect my pebble speakers & start streaming my pc to the . I also swap (when travelling on public transport) from HA to airpods & need to mute the HA (rather then turn them off to store while travelling) & mute will get unmuted by “any” audio on the phone if BT streaming is enabled.
Bottom line, for me, I want to connect & only stream audio from a host when I choose to.
I have been able to get the result by:
Phone: with the phonak app on the phone, keep the app connected but disable/enable streaming as desired: Devices>Streaming>Bluetooth Streaming>Bluetooth Streaming toggle on/off.
WIN11 PC: WIN key+R type mmsys.cpl (create a desktop shortcut to it is handy); otherwise use Settings>System>Sound>More sound settings. In the Sound control panel dialog if needed: right click anywhere in the selection box & enable both: Show disabled & Show Disconnected Devices. Then right click the Phonak Headphone entry & disable/enable as needed.
I know this is a bit cryptic but hopefully if you are a little tech savvy you’ll follow the breadcrumbs.
