CIC doesn’t fit flush to canal

Hi

I have signia silk hearing aids, when I first insert they sit perfectly flush with my ear canal “hole” if you will.

After a couple of minutes they have migrated out a bit and sit a good 3-4mm outside of this hole, I can feel the edge of the faceplate when this happens.

Is this normal? I am scared they are migrating too far out to be effective in all honesty.

I’ve added some pics of it sitting flush then how it looks after a few mins.

do you feel a difference in sound ? Are you getting feedback ? Is it uncomfortable ? Instead of being scared , are they doing the work that they are supposed to do ? Are they falling off?

Yes , because the sleeve is a standard size, the fit may not be perfect . The silk is a rare because it is one of the very few that uses standard sleeves instead of custom molds ( I think the other aid that uses this approach is the Oticon Zeal)

There are three options : adjust them when they move, try a larger size or consider a custom mold . That’s something that you should discuss with the audiologist.

Feel fine comfort wise, sound seems fine and there’s no feedback when it happens.

Audiologist is happy enough, he also mentioned customs but as they’d have no vents he’s concerned about occlusion as my low loss is near normal (-15 IIRC).

Overall I guess I’m expecting perfect from an instant fit not a custom and that isn’t overly realistic

yeah, that’s exactly what i tought too. I bought the Silks because i liked the ideathey were basically invisible - and they are, but only to a certain extent. Since they are Instant-fit, they might not perfectly match your ear canaleven tought you can try different sleeves. Mine also stick out a few millimeter from the canal, but they stay very secure and don’t move at all (now i’m wearin the tulip semi-open sleeves). I actually think that’s the correct way to wear them so the sleeves ventilation works properly. If I push them too deep they are invisible for sure but i get a really strong occlusion effect. If you feel confortable and the hearing aid is working well for you, I wouldn’t worry too much about it. It’s true they’re not completely invisible, but trust me - it’s usually more of a concern in your own head than something other people actually notice. Let us know how it goes.
