I am due to have a medical for a new job role and the hearing requirements are as follows:
Audiometry from the last 12 months, with and without hearing aids; Hearing aid function demonstrated by either “Free Field” or “Real Ear Measurement” assessment.
I don’t know if I am reading this correctly but it seems to suggest that I need an aided and unaided , and additionally a free-field or assessment.
Or I can read it as unaided audiogram plus a free-field or REM assessment to satisfy the aided part.
From what I can work out, free-field is a type of aided audiogram. I cannot find anywhere that offers the service “aided audiogram” so I really do not know what to think. My audiologist cannot make sense of it either. Any ideas?
