Hi. I want to program Signia Silk ix3 and found an opportunity to buy a ConnexxAir without the included Bluetooth dongle. Can I use an standard Bluetooth USB adapter , or do I need to find a specific model of adapter?
What kind of Bluetooth Adapter is used for ConnexxAir? Can someone please provide the model name of the included Bluetooth dongle?

FWIW, I just tried to connect my ConnexxAir with the computer bluetooth. The computer found the ConnexxAir device but would not connect. The dongle does not have a part number on it. The only thing it shows is ConnexxAir, Bluetooth 4.0 and the digits IB08A. Maybe that means something or maybe it is the part number.

Ive tried a few different ones in the past, I couldn’t find one that works, you’ll need the original unfortunately.
@raylock1 I wonder if a bluetooth scanner (snooper) would give more information.

I did a search on www.bluetooth.com6

G0

and searched for connexxair

G1

Then you get two links for components (steps 3 & 4)

The first link opens a window with information about the connexxair programmer

G3

and the second link opens a window for what i expect is the information about the specification of the connexair bluetooth / bluetooth dongle

G2

It reads
CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack
The CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack platform provides Dual-mode Bluetooth BR/EDR and Low Energy capability for a wide range of accessory applications. CSR’s BT4.2 Dual Mode stack platform provides everything required to create a Bluetooth Dual mode product with RF, baseband, microcontroller, qualified Bluetooth v4.2 stack, and customer application running on a single chip

I did an internet search about CSR 4.2 and found this Qualcom website3 with more information about CSR BT4.2

There you can find this information
4.2 Dual Mode stack Qualcomm Technologies International, Ltd. (QTIL)1 CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack2 68073 2015-06-25

CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack, The CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack platform provides Dual-mode Bluetooth BR/EDR and Low Energy capability for a wide range of accessory applications. CSR’s BT4.2 Dual Mode stack platform provides everything required to create a Bluetooth Dual mode product with RF, baseband, microcontroller, qualified Bluetooth v4.2 stack, and customer application running on a single chip.

The key features of the CSR BT4.2 Dual Mode stack are: The stack is implemented as a single source covering multiple CSR chips. The chips supported and unique build IDs are identified per released version in a Software Release Note available on the CSR support website www.csrsupport.com

The stack presents Baseband (BB), Link Manager (LMP), Host control interface (HCI), Service discovery Protocol (SDP), serial port profile (SPP), Link Layer (LL), 4.0 Host control interface (4.0HCI), Generic Attribute Profile (GATT), Generic Access Profile (GAP), Attribute Protocol (ATT), Security Manager Protocol (SM) and Logical Link Control Application Protocol (L2CAP) The stack can be configured to support the 4.2 Core specifications with or without Low Energy () by configuration on those chips supporting Low Energy functionality.

The stack can be configured to a subset of optional features as required.
The stack presents an HCI interface which can be selected between Bluetooth USB and UART (H4) transport protocols, as well as CSR’s proprietary UART protocol BCSP over the UART transport layer.

The stack can be used with an on-chip host stack, or an off-chip host stack Refer to the Bluetooth Core Specifications for guidance on End Product naming conventions when combining Bluetooth Components and Subsystems to form End Products.

The stack supports all the LE states: Advertising State, Scanning State, Initiating State and Connection State.
The stack also supports LE Slave and LE Master Role in the Connection State.

@raylock1 , thanks for your information.

Could you please connect the ConnexxAir dongle to your windows PC and open the device manager. Then open the Bluetooth section. Can you find there more information about the BT dongle ?

Tipp: To open the Device-Manager, press Windows+X, then tap the “M” key.

Or open the Start Menu and type “device manager,”

In Bluetooth there is device ConnexxAir CD01835. Under details, there is 60 or more pulldown boxes each with some information. Is there something specific you would like to know? I suppose the final answer would be 120+ screen shots, one for the id and one for the details.
Ray

Thank you guys. I appreciate your help. I’ll contact my Audi and ask for a single ConnexxAir dongle.
