Just as an FYI, there are phones “that will connect to two devices at once.”
My phone, a Moto X4, came with their app called “Wireless Sound System” which makes the claim that “Using Wireless Sound System you can listen to audio on up to 4 Bluetooth devices individually, or bring them together for a stereo setup.” but it has gotten poor reviews and I also ruled it out for various reasons otherwise heretofore explained. But might be good to know for other instances.
I’ve never seen a phone that can send a Bluetooth signal to more than one device at a time, unless it’s to two different protocols. Maybe sending data via to a PC while listening to music through BT headphones. But a phone sending music to two sets of headphones… now that would be nice.
Now… KS9s. They say they can only be connected to one device at a time. That would be fine, except what they really mean is that they can only store the connection data for one device. I would be fine if they could only be connected to one device, but the lack of being able to retain the data for more than one device is a pain. For instance, I have them connected to my Moto x4. If they acted like regular BT headphones, I should be able to turn off the Moto x4 BT, then connect to another device. But I can’t. In this case I am not trying to connect to more than one device, I am just trying to switch devices. My second cell phone is a Samsung S10e. It “sees” my KS9s, but will not connect. Same nonsense with my iMac. Unless I go through the trouble of clearing out the BT connection data which requires me to do some combo of opening the battery door and holding down some button for so many seconds, I’m stuck with my Moto x4.
If KS9s get a firmware update like their more expensive cousins, I’m hoping they will enable the KS9s to retain more than one device’s connection data. To me, it seems like this was an oversight that was corrected on the Marvels and since the KS9s use the same guts they should have the ability to be corrected as well.
Just got my KS9s today. Lots of fine-tuning still to be done in the future, but off to a good start.
I want to know who has gotten Android Auto to work properly with the KS9 - meaning, calls and music going to the hearing aid instead of the car? I’ve got the calls part working, but music still plays through the car speakers. This is through Spotify, while connected with a cable.
Also, has anyone gotten the warble issue resolved? I am experiencing it from certain high frequencies, too.
I’ve never seen a phone that can send a Bluetooth signal to more than one device at a time
An iPhone using and connects independently to each hearing aid, and sends a separate left and right signal. If the battery in one aid dies, you can see the other one still connected. I believe that is the advantage of BLE over Bluetooth Classic.
The warble comes from Feedback Manager. To get rid of it, this needs to be shut off. For me, I have it set ON for all of the automatic programs except MUSIC.
Additionally, I have two MANUAL presets with it shut off - QUIET, and MUSIC.
I use QUIET with Feedback Manager shut off when I am in a room with music and conversation happening at the same time. That works well for me.
For Manual MUSIC, I’ve also got the mic set to OMNIDIRECTIONAL instead of Real Ear Effect. And I’ve tweaked the frequncies for the MANUAL Music setting as there didn’t seem to be enough higher frequencies. I am quite happy with these now.
I’ve been experimenting with programming them myself and did the tweaking of the MANUAL MUSIC setting (I got a NoahLink Wireless, and someone directed me to a download of the Phonak Target 6.1.5 software).
Is feedback manager able to be reduced in increments or only shut off entirely?
Do you experience feedback with it shut off? For reference, it would be helpful to know what kind of domes you have.
Which program within automatic would you say correlates to TV? The background music on the TV causes warble as well for me.
It’s adjustable in increments, but it needs to be shut off completely to get rid of the warble
I have the large open domes. I get a little feedback if I put my hands right up to the aids. Of course, your programming may be quite different.
For TV, I’d suggest popping the $99 for the TV Connector from Costco. It works perfectly and, because it uses AirStream, you don’t have to worry about having it compete with your phone for Bluetooth. You can balance the streamed TV sound with the room sound. For me, I use VERY little streaming, but that’s just enough for a natural sound. AND I’d recommend that you make the discovery setting for the TV streamer MANUAL from within the Phonak software rather than automatic. This setting governs whether your hearing aids find the TV connector automatically (which drove me nuts). When the TV Connector is in place, and there is signal, it shows up on your phone as the last manual setting (or you can get there from stepping through the manual programs with your aids’ buttons).
Am going to trial the Marvel M90 after suffering of warble Or feedback with OPN -S .
What I read from above that Marvel have also same warbling issue with It’s feedback manager ?
Am not sure but I understood Marvel feedback is not acting as On/Off but rather on several levels (along with whistlestop) !
Is this correct ?
I demo’d the Marvel 90s before I found out about Costco KS9s. Same exact problem. Yes, you can step through the levels of Feedback Manager (Costco)/Whistle Stop (Phonak), but until you get to zero, you still get the warble. I am willing to live with it as long as I have manual settings that get rid of it for music. If I were paying the $7K for the Marvels, no. But at $1499, I’ll live with it!
Am not sure if the KS9 landed in Costco canada or not. I think they only have Philips and KS8 for now!
Am going for the trial and see how it goes and if it’s good and Costco have it, will certainly get it from Costco.
With KS9s, the signal is received and processed by the RH aid. Left stereo signal is sent to the left aid, right stereo is kept on the right aid. If I pull the battery from the LH aid, my music will pause briefly and then the right aid will continue to play. If I pull the RH battery, the music stops.
A couple of things I discovered recently. Might be old knowledge to some, but helpful to others.
In the Easy Line Report App, long press on the volume slider mutes the .
I use headphones over my aids sometimes to connect to a couple other devices (My work PC and work phone). I was getting some low howling feedback inn my left ear. Wiggling around the headphones sometimes helped, but what solved the issue was splitting the volume in the Easy Line Report App and reducing the LH volume by 1 or 2 spots.
The KS9’s are slightly de-featured Phonak Marvels. I seem to think they’re actually a titch more than 1999. That was my price in Spring '17 for the KS7’s. Still well below Marvel pricing.
From what I read, it have 312 battery (my favourite) and it doesn’t have the tinnitus feature. Although am having tinnitus, am not using this as somehow it always increases my ringing.
Can u tell me if these are all or there are more?
