I bought a Costco KS6 in 2015. I was having problems hearing in some situations so I got a hearing test at Costco today. The tech discovered that one of my microphones was clogged and not working. The test showed some hearing degradation in the past 7 years but he felt that by cleaning and unclogging the microphone and reprogramming the devices with expanded hearing that this may work well for me for a while. I will try it and see how it works.
The biggest problem I have with my is in group settings, typically 10 or 12 people. I especially have trouble hearing low female voices. Since I lead some of these meetings, it is really important for me to hear everyone. I also have trouble with background noise but am rarely in those situation anymore.
I asked him about the KS10 and other devices they sell. Surprisingly, he said there had had not been that major an improvement in the hearing technology, at least for someone like me. Most of the improvements are in things like Bluetooth (I already have that), rechargeable batteries and like things.
I like the value and service Costco offers with their HAs but I am willing to pay more if I can get devices that make a significant difference for my needs.
