Hello. Quick history here. 80% loss in right ear for the last 20 yrs. Left ear still very good. I function pretty well in most settings but like others with SSHL I struggle in busy environments or when someone is on my right side.
Currently trialing Resound Cros system. Generally I think it’s improvement, but feel there is room to improve and curious if others have input.
Here’s what I like:
- Pretty good natural sound. Would prefer less of the artificial ‘sratching’ noise but nonetheless it sounds fairly good.
- Decent fit.
- Relatively discreet.
What I don’t like:
- Hate that it stays connected to my phone for calls. I can’t make any adjustments to the settings that stick without staying connected. The audio sounds like trash through my phone this way. Once I disconnect BT, the settings on the aids revert back to the preset. This is stupid. Do all companies do this?
- No functionality to do both and amplification in my bad ear. Why? Seems like one could make mild adjustments in the bad ear AND augment to the good side.
- Background noise filtering is pretty limited this not making at lot of difference in busy settings. Seems like a miss here.
Would love others feedback on aid options. At the price of these I just feel there has to be a solution that meets some of the misses.
Have read some comments about Phonak being better. If you tried both, please comment on this. Also read some having very good results with Phonak Sphere. To my understanding it’s not a Bi/CROS system at all. Just better tech/. Is it available in a Bi/CROS system?
Price isn’t really an issue for me. If I’m going to pay for these, I’d rather pay more and get something I’m happy with vs less and not.
Would love your input.
Thanks.
