Day One Problem and Question About Earmolds

Got my Phillips 9050’s yesterday. Costco fitter did and feedback tests. Recommended I get earmolds. I bought them but wondered why she did not make that recommendation when I went in for hearing test? She did feedback test with demo 9050’s and said we were good.

I wore my new 9050’s home. Was impressed with improved clarity listening to car radio. I removed to put in case to start pairing process. Pairing was easy but when I reinstalled ’s, I got static on the left ear. Sounded like the classic bacon frying. Static was worse if I inserted more and less if I pulled them out a little. No issues on right side. Could eliminate most of static by reducing volume to -3. So, what caused the sudden static on left side? Maybe a manufacturing defect? Thanks.

In addition to left static, streaming quality is bad, often cutting out on left HA only. Many threads here and elsewhere about poor streaming with . Will be interesting to find out if static and streaming drop out are related. Hopefully I will find out when I go back to get my acrylic molds.

Re hearing improvement, I continue to be impressed. Sorry I waited so long to get HA’s.

If you have access to a newer Pixel or Samsung phone that has a setting. You might see if that helps with the dropouts.

With my 9050 hearing aids and a Pixel 10 phone, Bluetooth is rock solid when the LE Audio setting is enabled.

I use to get that bacon frying sound, but not now. So something changed with the phone updates.

If you think the hearing aid may be defective, then take it back.

As far as the hearing aids molds, Costco is a big company and as such they may have a protocol that the hearing aid fitter has to follow.

If your cell phone is not Bluetooth LE compatible you can buy an Easy LE Adapter (either Phillips or Oticon). You may be able to buy one through Costco.
