Disaster during firmware upgrade

I was just using the Phonak Target software with my Noahlink wireless, upgrading my P90R to the latest firmware. I'm hoping that it will allow better bluetooth connection.

Anyway, the RH one finished nicely but halfway through the LH one upgrading, Windows decided to restart for an upgrade and Target crashed!
I've gone back in and started a new session but it won't detect the left one. I tried putting it in the charger and I'm getting no lights. Neither of the buttons give me any lights.
Is there anything I can do? Thanks.

Try holding down the LH button for 30sec or so. This does a deeper level reset... but if the firmware is corrupted (likely) it might not work. You have nothing to lose at this point though.....

Thanks. I tried that and I'm getting nothing, no lights, no reset. I thought I could do a factory reset in Target but, of course, it doesn't detect it. I'm guessing an audiologist wouldn't even be able to reset it, probably back to the factory!

Meanwhile, I have Phonak Audéo Paradise 90-RT as a spare. Good to know that I should make every Windows update possible and pause Windows Update before firmware upgrade.

@Michael_Phonak, perhaps you can inform Target software developers and programist to add a warning notification, which would stressed about necessity to make sure about Windows Update actions. That feature probably would be welcomed by every audiologist's practice.

That's a very good idea. I've sent a message to Sonova but I don't think they will deal direct with the public. First appointment I can get with my audio is 11th Nov and I'm sure she won't be able to do anything.

I did a lot of searching and there is a possibility that your Audi might be able to reprogram it because some Audis have equipment for that. However, in most cases ithe Audi will just send it back to the factory for reprogramming. I am curious as to why you were letting windows update while you were programming. That was asking for trouble.

You definitely won't get get help from them on this.

Which equipment device is that, in the old days you could use a HiPro to restore, but obviously not now with all the latest being wireless only.

You do get the warnings not to disconnect Noahlink at any time for any reason while the upgrade is running.

I do know, but one can forget about such an eventuality as Windows Update...

One should never have auto update, i always get asked before this happens, same with Android phone, actually I never update unless I have too with anything,as something always seems to get broken or not as it was before.

I don't use Windows, it's sh*te. I'm a Mac user but Target only runs on Win so I have a Windows 11 virtual machine on my Mac. As such, because I hardly ever use it, it was my fault that I overlooked the possibility of an auto update. I bitterly regret the oversight now.

I wouldn't knowingly do that, of course. I run Windows 11 virtual machine on a Mac and I wasn't aware that the default must have been set to auto-update. I know now!

It's easy with hindsight. I don't normally have anything to do with Windows but Target only runs on Windows. I use a Windows 11 emulator on a Mac Studio and wasn't aware that it would do an update without asking first. Must've been the default setting, but as I say, hindsight is a wonderful thing!

Sometimes it's a necessity, i. e. when there are security updates, where potential vulnerabilities are patched.
