I’m already using Phonak Audeo Infinio 50-R and it’s adjusted perfectly as per my hearing needs.
Now I’m planning to buy Roger ON 3, but I have one doubt — do I need to visit my audiologist again for any setup/adjustment/pairing, or is it basically plug-and-play with the hearing aids?
I’m currently staying far away from my audiologist, so I wanted to know if everything can be done easily by myself.
Would really appreciate help from anyone using a similar setup. Thanks!
The licenses contained in the Roger On will need to be transferred to your aids. You can do this your self. There are several threads in the forum and YouTube videos explaining how to do this. Members can help if you run into problems
Out of curiosity - why Infinio R 50 + Roger On 3 setup instead of Infinio Sphere 70 or 90? I am not judging, just curious, because maybe it’s something I didn’t took into account.
I’m a 28M and was diagnosed with Auditory Neuropathy Spectrum Disorder () last year. Most told me that hearing aids probably wouldn’t help much in my case, and I’m also not considered a suitable candidate for cochlear implants right now.
My main issue is that I can hear sounds, but I struggle a lot with speech clarity, especially in noisy environments. However, during a trial with a Unitron 30-series model (don’t remember the exact model), I noticed some improvement, so based on that experience I decided to get the Phonak Audeo Infinio 50-R. It’s my first hearing aid.
Since I’ll soon be joining university, I’m considering getting the Roger ON 3 mainly to help in lectures and group discussions.
If anyone has experience with a better setup for ANSD, or any advice/suggestions/tips, I’d really appreciate your help.

Any suggestions/ tips on how to get my Phonaks programmed better?
I DEARLY, DEARLY highly encourage you to try the Audeo Infinio Sphere 90. Especially if you’re in trial period with I50-Rs. It’s easier to use than the Roger On that I have.
I really don’t understand, why, knowing you have problem with conversations in noise, didn’t offer you at least trialing Spheres 70 or 90. Cost of pair of Sphere 90 is probably similar to pair of I50-R + Roger On 3.
My university life would have been much better if Infinio Sphere had existed 15 years ago.
After getting the Sphere, I feel no need to use the Roger On. @raylock1 is also an experienced user of both Roger and Sphere.
FYI: new generation of Phonak hearing aids will be released probably in Aug 2026.
Whaaaaat!? I’m shocked. How about pair of Spheres 70? If you’re into or can schedule an appointment with an audiologist on a pay-per-service basis, you could order Spheres from Wholesalehearing.co.uk3, for example?
Out of curiosity - what were prices for pair of I-50 R and Roger On 3?
I asked about custom clearances in case of buying in UK from India:
"In the case of hearing aids (HS code 902140), the regulations in India are considerably more lenient, as they are treated as essential rehabilitation and medical equipment. [1, 2]
An Indian resident ordering a ready-made hearing aid from the UK will not pay most standard import duties, although there may be minor handling charges.
The regulations for hearing aids are as follows:
1. Exemptions from customs duties and taxes
Basic Customs Duty (): This is 0%. Equipment designed to assist people with disabilities, including hearing aids, is fully exempt from Basic Customs Duty. [1]
IGST (equivalent to VAT): The rate is 0% (the so-called Nil rate). According to official guidelines from the Indian Ministry of Finance and the GST Council, ready-made hearing aids are completely exempt from Goods and Services Tax. [1, 2, 3]
Social Welfare Surcharge (SWS): As the basic duty is 0%, this additional tax (calculated as a percentage of the duty) is also 0. [4]
2. Important exception: Spare parts and accessories
The tax exemption applies only to complete hearing aids. If an Indian resident orders spare parts, accessories or dedicated batteries from the UK, the situation changes: [2]
Parts and accessories (HS code 90219010) are not fully exempt.
In their case, the Indian tax authorities levy the standard IGST tax of 18%. [3, 5]
3. What costs are certain to arise?
Despite the absence of customs duties and taxes on the hearing aid itself, the recipient in India must be prepared for procedural expenses:
Courier clearance fee: The courier company (e.g. DHL or FedEx) must still declare the goods to Indian customs. They will charge a standard handling fee for customs clearance (usually ranging from a few hundred to around 1,500 rupees).
Document verification: Indian customs may ask the recipient to provide a medical certificate or prescription confirming that the device is being imported for personal medical use in order to approve the zero duty rate.
If you are planning such a purchase or would like to find out more about the medical clearance procedure in India, please let me know – I can help check the documents required by Indian customs or explain the differences in charges for other medical devices.
