Does Phonak Naida P90-UP have a t-coil?

Ok - so a TV connector to the computer will auto reconnect whenever I go into the office with the computer? I’m guessing the TV connector connects with a usb?

In terms of the disconnections with notifications - you are correct and I think I explained it badly.

It’s not really a disconnection, its a dip in the streaming sound making way for the notification sound. However, its an issue if I’m listening to something verbal which will lose a sentence or so.

In terms of the what devices are paired and setting priorities - I have looked in the app but I can’t find anything.
The 4.0.4 release has not fixed the slow connection for sure. However, it maybe your list of compatible is not a typo - there seems to be a display to show the battery level on the remote control window, as in Dr Cliff video, however the battery charge does not show on mine - which maybe some incompatibility with the Naida Paradise - however that would be a surprise if that was an omission.

This can be set up like that, I believe there’s 3 different settings, Auto connect, connect by push button on your , or manual, as in separate TV Connecter program for your HAs.

Ok I think that’s for the rechargeable models, I’m not sure if it works for disposable battery models.

I have the Oticon app and it gives the battery levels for non rechargeable. I would expect Phonak app to be able to work for both disposable or rechargeable. It is a useful info to have. The only difference between the Oticon and the Paradise is that the Oticon has size 13 batteries while the paradise has 675.

The original purpose of was phone calls. Landlines will pretty much become obsolete in the USA next year and my hearing aids stream phone calls directly into my aids in both ears. My speech comprehension is dismal like 20 percent so telecoil in movie theaters doesn’t help so instead I look for .theaters with closed caption. Plus telecoil never really caught on that much in the United States not like in Europe where I hear it’s everywhere. Also I’m retired . I used it or depended more on it when I worked. Now it’s been years since I can last remember using it. My concern was with the world situation as wonderful as it is these days maybe it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to get it activated just in case. You never know when someone might decide to start blowing up cellphone towers. Nothing seems impossible anymore

@hass5744: I use the program in my More1s all the time to take calls on my iPhone SE 2. The sound is strong and clear, and is not prone to the dropouts I often experience when streaming with VAC+ or v5.0.

Very true - I just assumed you would benefit from the significant extra gain, providing that your aids would operate the same as mine do with the program. For me, the T-coil mode is significantly louder with my getup. That’s really the point I wished to make, and no neck coils or other accessories are required.

But you’re right, of course. Our hearing losses are completely different, and maybe you wouldn’t benefit from more gain at all.

[The post is also directed at those who think that neck loops are required to benefit from the T-coil program. Every iPhone since the 6S is T-coil compatible.]

I didn’t know that - my audiologist set the gains on all four of my programs during the same appointment. I’ll ask him whassup. At any rate, the sound is strong and clear, whatever the reason.

Ok, I have worked out whats going on here.

So I’m on my computer and the connection is through bluetooth. The app has the active program as Bluetooth streaming + mic 2 and all is good coming from my computer to my aids.

Then a notification sound came through on my iPhone and the app switched the active program to Bluetooth streaming + mic 1 - which is the program that connects my iPhone to my aids.

Hence the temporary disconnection from my computer streaming. Not a major problem but if I’m listening to someone on the computer the disconnection is long enough to lose several words.

I’m a bit lost here. From my understanding, you need a neck loop to work with . What am I missing or are you just talking about connecting to the iPhone t-coil without a neck loop? I did not know you could do that.

Streaming calls from iPhone to the aids works well for me - dont usually drop out etc. So have not had any problem with that.

I used neck loop and Roger Pen connected to TV. I’m currently trialling a Roger ON connected to the TV which streams directly to the Paradise aids.

The advantage of the direct streaming from the Roger ON is indeed beneficial in there is no need for the neck loop. However, the advantages with the neck loop is indeed that I can have greater volume via turning up the neck loop. I usually used the mic and neck loop program combined - meaning that if I simply switch off the neck loop I have all the surrounding sound coming directly to the aids instantly. Very useful for instance if someone says something and I want to converse without the TV sound coming through.

It seems with the Paradise and myPhonak app, the only way I can achieve the same is to go into the app and then wait for it to connect - then go to the balance page and adjust the balance to full surround. When I finish my conversation I have to undo all that - as opposed to flicking a switch on the neck loop!!

You’ll have to pardon my lack of technical expertise here: all I can attest to is that my iPhone SE2 will connect with my Oticon More1s via and that setting gives me loud, very clear phone calls as long as there’s no electrical equipment also in the vicinity.

Yes iPhones have built in so you don’t need a neck loop. I have my telecoil program as first click on my Aids so I can take a call easily if I’m not hooked up to other devices.

Ask for Roger X (02) receivers to be isntalled into your Aids and ask for the EasyGain to be adjusted. Default is 10 but I have mine set at max 18 dB.

If you have got the Roger On iN then you have 03 receivers which can’t be adjusted.

This is the machine they use to install the licenses from the Roger X.

I have had the Oticon OPN S1’s for a few years. I have the same app. However, I always used the Bluetooth connection for calls, indeed I don’t know how to set it up for taking calls on t-coil. I’m not sure what the benefit of taking the calls via t-coil would be versus taking calls via bluetooth? If there is no neck loop involved then you don’t have that additional volume control from the neckloop.

Obviously it is working well for you and its good to know there are other options.

I am trialling the ON with the Paradise. The idea was to be able to do away with the neck loop as they are streaming direct.

Switching off the neck loop instantly kills the TV sound and I can converse with whoever is in the room. However, it seems a faff to do the same via the Paradise by having to go into the app and setting the balance etc.

Sometimes, the connection is spotty, and I’ve had issues getting the call volume I need to understand first time around. I wish I possessed the technical knowledge to explain the phenomenon to you: I don’t. But when I switch to the program, the sound I hear is loud, punchy, and fuller (more bass) than with Bluetooth.

I don’t know what the elves inside my machines are doing, however it’s working dandy for me!

I’m interested to try it but not sure how to set it up. I agree I don’t think there is a setting to switch to t-coil on the iPhone and I have the iPhone 12. Does it switch exclusively to t-coil i.e. shuts off the aid mics?

The audi set up three programs on my Oticon’s - Mic Only, Mic and , T-coil only. The one I used most is Mic and t-coil. However, t-coil only active with the neck loop which is linked to a Roger Pen on my computer or other Pen to my TV. I kept two pens and two neck loops in these different locations for convenience.
