Does Windows laptop running Compass need to have Bluetooth connectivity?

Hi there, actually it’s all pretty easy, no mysteries, to do a successful project all you need is compass software and the correct programming device, so for Moment model onwards you can use the Noahlink wireless, for earlier models the ProLink programmer, and you don’t need Bluetooth on your PC, the communication/connection is between the programmer/software and .

Another good thing is that you don’t need an internet connection to run the software for programming.

tenkan - you are a gem - Thank You! The Himsa site lists Noah System requirements, which includes Bluetooth. But that refers to running the entire Noah system, not specifically the NoahLink device (as I now understand it). And one can always get a PC USB Bluetooth dongle on Amazon for a few bucks, if they wanted. The Pro Link device can go either way: can run on Bluetooth, or can connect to PC via USB port - at which point Bluetooth not necessary.

Yes the Noah software and the Noahlink wireless are two different things, Noahlink wireless doesn’t need a bluetooth connection to the PC only the , as it’s connected to the USB port, to use ProLink programmer the PC also doesn’t need Bluetooth, the ProLink comes with its own dongle for the connection to the ProLink programmer, unfortunately you can’t use just “any Bluetooth dongle” for this connection. The only real drawback on the ProLink is of course you can only provide programming for Widex models, if at all possible get the Noahlink wireless (for moment onwards, but not those or other NW models) so yeah I think Widex needs to up its game on this.

Ah, you have made a fine clarification: Widex sells a proprietary Bluetooth dongle for the ProLink, about $115. NoahLink programmer does appear to be the better option.

Keep in mind, that only the Widex Moment, Moment Sheer and the new Widex Smart are programmable via Noahlink Wireless.
For older legacy Widex aids: Evoke , Beyond , Unique, Dream, Clear, Super you will need the ProLink programmer

Thank you! I’ve got a pair of Widex Moment Sheer 440. Currently have temporary access to a loaner ProLink programmer, used by the Audi for distance fitting. Will purchase a Noah Link programmer for longer term use, once I get the hang of using Compass.

But the ProLink doesn’t work with the Moment sheer, Noahlink wireless you ment.

Audi is using Compass program to do remote programming on my Widex Moment Sheer 440, with me running the Widex Remote Care app on my iPhone while wearing the ProLink programmer around my neck and wearing the . So I presume this setup works (though the Audi is less than stellar…). That said, the best advice indeed is to opt for NoahLink as the wireless programmer.

Audi use Compass program on his PC which is connected to the internet ,
Widex Remote Care app on your iPhone receive the programming data from the internet and transmitting the data via Bluetooth to your Widex Moment Sheer

The ProLink is not plugged in to anything (other than itself). It has a cable with one end that plugs in to one port on the top of the ProLink; the cable then goes around my neck, and its other end plugs into the other port on top of the ProLink. I presume it communicates via Bluetooth with the Widex Remote Care App on my iPhone, and also communicates with the . Yeah, some magic I don’t pretend to fully understand either.

This isn’t how it works, you don’t need the programmer for “remote support” it’s + iPhone to your , this is the whole idea for it in the first place, but you can’t use the ProLink to program the sheer right?

I can’t see how, because the ProLink needs the bluetooth dongle to communicate with the compass software on your PC.
Are you using that ProLink App I wonder?
Could you post a screenshot of your setup, I’m very interested to see how it works as I’ve never heard of this.

Alas, I am not a computer wizard, and know little about how this all works. But yes, the Audi is remotely tweaking my Moment Sheer 440 settings with the ProLink programmer and the Widex Remote Care iPhone app. The Remote Care app and the ProLink are paired (perhaps via wireless signal?). I do not have and am not using the Widex Bluetooth dongle. This does suggest that there is a way for the ProLink programmer to work with Moment Sheer for programming-at-a-distance (even if it usually doesn’t). Oh, and I am not using a ProLink app - didn’t know it existed. My ProLink device looks like the one in the pic you posted, only no Bluetooth dongle and no charger base. I charge it via a cable that I plug into a USB port on a phone wall charger.
