Earmold / dome lube

I’ve always used Oto Ease and it works great for inserting my double domes. I saw info the other day on another Group that some people are using KY Jelly. Anyone tried this. It is much cheaper than Oto Ease. The MSDS for the two are similar.

I think KY Jelly is Vaseline here in the UK.

A lot of people use it but has been known to degrade domes quite quickly as it seems to react to them.

The same for ear moulds but that doesn’t mater for you.

Agreed. KY is basically glycerin and water. Vaseline is petroleum jelly.

I use a little organic coconut oil. It’s also anti-bacterial and antifungal. It doesn’t seem to degrade the domes between changes.

I’m not an expert so check, this could be bad advice.

My choice is Comfort Ear, provided by my AUD. A small drop on the tip of my finger and then I carefully spread it around my domes. It has prevented my small ear canals from irritation. I think the bottle will last several years at the rate I am using it.
