Hello again, my hunt for the right first continues. I’ve been trialling some Signia Silk 7ix as I had a preference for in-ear discreet HAs. However despite trying different sleeves (I’m XS/S size) they keep slipping out, especially the left one, and especially when I’m moving or talking. I’m poking my left HAs back into my ear every 5 minutes if I’m talking. It’s uncomfortable and distracting and mentally fatiguing to always be feeling the slippage. The audio itself is a mixed bag, although if there wasn’t the slipping issue, I’d persevere longer and see how things adapt. So unless my audio can source a different dome, I think I need to start exploring an HA instead.
I’m with Specsavers, and the options I’m mulling over are Signia Styletto or their Charge&Go, or Phonak Lumity 90. As I shift to accepting RICs over I do feel hopeful I’ll get an even better hearing experience and other features. I don’t need anything super snazzy - well, I want to be able to hear as best as possible! Would like Bluetooth connectivity if poss; and a nice looking HA.
It isn’t clear to me if these Signia models have full Bluetooth? The website uses lots of different terms re different kinds of Bluetooth, which I found very confusing - I just want to know would these HAs connect to my phone so I can stream audio or phone calls, or not? Or do I need this extra gadget?
Perhaps Phonak is more advanced in this regard?
With the silks I got the small remote as well. I need an option - be it on the aid or a remote - to change settings without using the phone app, as there are weeks/months in my life in which I’m offline/ my phone is permanently off.
I’d like the smallest or sleekest model I can get. I’m only 40 and there’s still a part of me that is still mourning this unexplained hearing loss and feels sad HAs still look pretty naff (why satiny sheens, why pearl white, why not a clean modern ear-bud bright white? Etc). It’s also not very easy to find photos of people wearing HA models to help me judge. The Styletto, though it seems lonnnng, looks quite sleek and I think the white model looks more modern. Although it looks like you lose some functionality compared with Charge&Go? and no volume button on aid.
I’d welcome your thoughts. But please, it’s not very helpful to suggest I go elsewhere or go with other models entirely, because I don’t have those options. Unfortunately I don’t have my . But I can say I’m mild-medium hearing loss that slips down to moderate-poor in the high frequencies. I was told by one audio that I need 8db difference to hear voices over background noise (you can probably tell I don’t fully understand what that means - but some of you may!)
Thanks a lot
