First time DIY needs clarification

I’m trying to set the gain on my Jabra EP 20’s and I’m not sure what the three dotted lines are. I think I should set the gain to match the three lines. Are the lines high, middle and low frequencies? I assume these lines are just suggestions that I can set the actual gains above or below the dotted lines.

They are probably sound pressure levels the pick up. (I can’t see your screen). You want three gain settings, quiet, moderate and loud. I think that is how it goes, anyway. I’m not a diyer, I play one on TV.

Yeah the user guides come in handy for basic things like this, yes you can go above and below, but first let the software do a first fit using experience level and go from there, because you actually need to know what you want to change before doing so, not much point in just random adjustments, the fitting flow guide and that video guide really helps.

I had a pretty good setting for my Jabra Enhanced Pro 20’s and got on to Smart Fit for the first time to save what I had as a baseline. Not understanding how Smart Fit works I was going from screen to screen not changing anything and saving. What I think I ended up with was a bunch of defaults and I think I lost my good setting. So now I’m full in learning how set things up. I may end up going back to Costco to get my good setting back but before I do that I want to know how to make subtle changes without loosing everything.

Yes I got the guide. I’m not sure whether I watched the video. I’ve watched so many videos so far. I’ll go back and check out the video again. But so far all the info I have read watched assume knowledge. For instance it doesn’t explain what those three dotted lines are. I know they are a suggested guide, but what frequencies are represented by each dotted line? Every time I go into Smart Fit I learn something. I guess I’m panicking. I expected to go in and save a pretty good setting as a safety and that was lost. Now I’ve spent the day trying to scramble something decent for my ’s for tomorrow. I may end up smileing and nodding at the family for our Easter get together because once again I can’t understand what their saying.

Finally found what the three lines are: top line is soft sounds, middle line is medium sounds and bottom line is loud sounds. Found this on Youtube. The Hearing Club : How to program your Phillips 9030/40/50 Hearing aids yourself. I have not watched the whole video yet but I think this will be the most help I have found. I need to go to bed now it’s late and I’m all Smart Fit burned out. Early tomorrow I’ll get up and try a quick setup in the morning.

What formula did you decide to use? Make sure you use “Experience Non linear” and gain level 100% you can always change this at a later date, chose the correct acoustics (dome, molds) let SmartFit do the first fit, this has always been a good starting point.
It’s best to hold back and get a handle on the basics first, it’s not good to dive in like this, you’ve already made a few mistakes, push yourself some more and you’ll get results plus a better idea of what’s going on and how to do it, so for you go to top of the fine tuning page in SmartFit and click on guides and a good one further down is “feature demonstrations” tells you exactly what each feature does,
So don’t use Phillips Hearsuite for research, use ReSound, the SmartFit video guide shows the basics, plus lots of good resource here.

Well Easter with the family went pretty well I could hear everybody better than the setting I got from the professional audiologist. I went with Experienced Non-Liniar, and the gains with a 2db separation between levels. I put the bands right up to the no squeal limit. I have the All Around set with the Sound Shaper set to Very Mild. I added a Hear In Noise with Autoscape Adaptive Directionaly and Sound Shaper set to mild. I also added another Hear In Noise with Front Focus and no Sound Shaper. I also added a Outdoor with the defaults. I still need to test these settings in a crowded restaurant the two different “hear in noise settings” will hopefully give me some insight with future adjustments. I’m starting to feel more confident and with a freedom to control these ’s myself. I just needed to know what the three bands represented. The G50, 65 & 80 did not mean anything to me. Now I can associate them with Soft, Medium & loud sounds. Now I think I have a handle on these settings. Thanks again.

No, I am an audioligist. I reprogram for people who bougth those brands, since here anyone can do that job. No regulations, but people represent only one brand. People do not have access to all the brands in one clinic/actually store. So any help, to help. A person from France brought 2 oticon Nera Pro, to donate. I have them with me, but the people who represent that brand here, DO NOT want to help a child for free. Even if these donators want to pay a fee, the do not want to program them. So, I dont know what I need to do that. They do not look used. I also see many people who have “audioService”, I believe it is a Signia brand, but I was not able to find their software. ( if anyone want to help. I live in Bolivia, I went to school in the USA.I am a doctor in audiology. THANK YOU!!!

Wow all very interesting, well you’d know that market is run like a cartel so no surprises you’re not getting any help with those really old models, well hopefully you have all the different hardware requirements for all the different models, probably a good idea to remove your email address as we have a very good PM here on hearingtracker.
