Hello, first time hearing aid wearer here in my early 40s. I recently picked up the Rexton iX- Li hearing aid from Costco for one ear (which has hearing loss and tinnitus) and have been trying to get used to it. It seems like it will take time getting used to them, but the one biggest issue I’m having right now is comfort and how it fits. My ear feels blocked (which is expected I guess as there is an aid in my canal) but it also feels it is pressing against the bony part of the ear making it hard to wear without eventually feeling pain. My canals are small and I currently have the XS closed tips on the end. Is this normal and it takes getting used to? I also might not be putting it in correctly as the practitioner really shoved it in there at my fitting appointment (which also led to some aches afterwards).
I initially went for this hearing aid as I wanted it to be discreet and rechargeable so I didn’t care about additional functionality such as bluetooth for music/phone calls (but am now reconsidering this as I like to listen to music with AirPods). However, this aid still sticks out and is visible so I’m not really gaining anything there. I’m wondering if I should try a different one altogether as I can’t see myself using it all the time, only in social situations where I have trouble hearing others. Any recommendations for a different type from Costco for a first time hearing aid wearer? The practitioner initially suggested a behind the ear type but I was scared to having something so visible but now am double guessing my choice.
Sorry for this lengthy post and so many questions, I feel lost at the moment and want to make the “right” decision.
