My new aids are NHS Signia Strett UP with custom moulds. Previously I have been wearing Phonak Audéo aids with open domes; the aids are about 6 or 7 years old. The reason for wanting new aids is to get better hearing in my right ear.
After some teething troubles with the moulds fitting, I have come home with the aids sounding far too loud, but not at all crisp. I’ve turned them down as far as I can, and used the app to get crisper hearing, but I’m having much more trouble making out what people are saying than I was previously.
Is this normal with new aids? I have the feeling that the sound quality is actually worse than with my usual aids. I expected to have an adjustment period but I expected the sound to be perhaps too hissy, which it really isn’t, quite the contrary.
