Curious about the 2 chips to “process speech and background noise independently.” Sounds too good to be true…

OK… I was just about to post this link on the Horizon IX3 when I saw the thread here. I am also curious about this German-made hearing aid that seems to do the impossible for LESS than my pair of beautiful 312 Phonak Lumity Life aids. I say “bring it!” to any maker of hearing aids that wants to shake things up in the market with a BETTER product that COSTS LESS.
So. As the official “guinea pig” of the board, I pursued the offer, following all the links clear out to the Hear USA rep who called to set me up for my appointment at a local clinic to trial the Horizon IX aids. As per the phone call, I verified that the aids are rechargeables - with 30 hours (really?) of use, compatible (to be seen with my Android phone), and H2O resistant. I was in the market for something to replace my 3-yr old Lumity Life rechargeable that I wear to the gym, so maybe this model - with its dual processors - will fit the bill?
I was offered a discounted price of $4900 for the pair, which is definitely less than a pair of Phonaks would cost me. Altho I’m a bit leery of the HEAR USA model for fitting/service, I’m under no obligation to keep the aids. I have a 45-day trial to test them out. I set up my app’t for March 23, so it’ll be a few weeks before I’m able to post any feedback on the Horizon IX in terms of sound quality, truly being able to hear in LOUD places with its “advanced” speech clarity, it’s stability with BT and overall sound quality. I’d mainly be using these aids for the gym, but if they were outstanding in LOUD places, I’d even wear them at restaurants and large gatherings.
Hope to see this through to its conclusion, whether it’s a success or a bomb.
EDIT: I added a link to the product feature specs HERE.8 Scroll down to pages 7 and beyond. I was surprised to see that on page 18 there are compatible accessories with these aids, including a TV Streamer, a portable mic and a remote about the size of a keyfob that would be used to control the aids if you don’t want to have the phone app open on a tabletop or in your hand. Hmmmm… ![]()

Sound quality is quite good when it is not noisy. Not so good in noisy environs. Bluetooth connections hav major problems. Keeps signing off and had to be paired again. Other big problem is the whooshing noise it generates when it is real quiet out there. It’s seems to be confusing the “quiet” for something else. If we make a noise, it goes away but always comes back. Quiet annoying. No fix from hear.com1 or my audiologist.

OH WOW. That is great feedback, and you absolutely helped me find an escape hatch from the trial! I called it off. Just too much money in times of too much uncertainty. I need ROCK SOLID , and the Hear.com clinic near me (closer than my DEAR audi’s clinic!) was in a dump. Gave me the willies. Sorry for my delay getting back to you here, been busy as a BEE with too many household repairs … and more money tossed out the window in these uncertain times.![]()

Well, as stated above, I backed out of my Hear.com trial of the Horizon IX before even meeting the audi at the clinic. Even $4900 spent on a complete unknown aid (to me) would’ve been to pricey a gamble. MUCH obliged for the input to this thread. Sometimes I get a brain-fart, but I really should just stick with what I know works for me: Brand Phonak. Battery. My dear audi at her sort of distant clinic.
