Has anyone tried the new Phonak EasyGuard domes?

I’m currently trialling the Oticon Intent but after multiple visits to the audi, I still don’t like the sound quality. I’m going to try the Resound next, but if those are worse I’ll probably go back to the Phonak Infinio non-Sphere. I liked the natural sound quality with the Phonak but speech clarity was still an issue. With the new Ultra update it’s supposed to be better.

I’m also looking for the most comfortable dome. Apparently my canals are small and sensitive. The Oticon domes all felt hard and pokey like they were stabbing my eardrum. But all the others I’ve tried have been bad in other ways – either they feel stabby or like they’re trying to expand my canal. I’m wearing the smallest ones. The least hateful ones are the Phonak small vented that look a bit like bulbs / bowl shaped. I’m also curious about the new domes because I have to get my ears cleaned every 6 months due to wax so a dome that withstand some wax sounds good for me. Thanks!

If speech clarity is an issue, why the non-Spheres? At least if we’re talking about noisy environments, the Spheres are the version with the biggest advantage in speech comprehension. (Which sounds like strange advice coming from me, because personally I would have chosen the non-Spheres if I could - but that’s ‘cause I hate hate hate noisy environments and avoid them as much as possible.)

The Ultra update appears to affect the Spheres more than the non-Sphere functionality: There is a new version of the AutoSense operating system that’s supposed to choose programs faster, more accurately, and more smoothly, but I’m not sure if there is any major change in the capabilities of the non-Spheric programs themselves.

I don’t know what the acoustics of the EasyGuard domes are like - nobody so far seems to have said much about that aspect of them - but it does sound like they might be a real help to you in terms of cleaning and maintenance.

I agree with your point. The price difference between the Spheres and the non-Spheres is small. IMO, it doesn’t make sense to choose the non-Spheres unless someone dislikes the Sphere’s size (or price). Honestly, there’s nothing particularly exciting about the non-Spheres, which is probably why there are barely any reviews or user stories about them compared to the Spheres.

Phonak claims the new domes offer better protection against wax, but if users change the filters regularly, I don’t see this as a significant advantage. If there is anything else in them, I would like to know.

I use the easyguard medium vented domes on my Lumity’s & Spheres but the spheres have gone back so waiting for EON’s in 10-12 days 🤞& am very pleased with them although I don’t have a wax problem but I have had domes block with wax occasionally.
