Has anyone upgraded from Oticon Opn to Oticon More?

The “Speech in Noise” isn’t an Oticon thing, but a program my Audi set up for me. She did it on the OPN2, and I really didn’t like it there. So that’s what we tweaked to get “Speech in Noise.” I click the button on the aid to toggle between normal, music, and “Speech in Noise,” which is tweaked for difficult environments.

I think in my case the Clear Dynamics tweak is probably worth it for me. Everything sounds so good and natural, and I do love music. I got a good deal on these as part of the Z Power semi-recall. I don’t know if it’s because I had complained a few times regarding the Z Power issue, or what, but they offered me a good discount.

Also, now that I’ve got them set up for the “Speech in Noise” program, I can use the extra help when I need it. I still have yet to find out just how useful it might be, but I’ll give it a spin this weekend in a crowd of people.

Oticon has built-in programs like Speech in Noise, Music, Comfort, Lecture, and other T-coil and Phone Mic programs as well. Not sure why your audi has to make her own customized Speech in Noise for you. It’s probably better to start out with the built-in Speech in Noise program and tweak it further if still not happy with it, rather than trying to make a custom one. After all, Oticon would know how to built it much better than anyone else. Maybe that’s why your audi’s customized Speech-in-Noise sounds harsh for you. The built-in Oticon Speech-in-Noise that I have doesn’t sound harsh for me.

I don’t know for sure, but I assume that the original program on both the OPN2 and the initial settings for the More1 were canned from Oticon. What I told her I wanted to do was to copy all the settings from my usual program 1, except use “Neural AI” and noise set to max for my third program. It’s still called Voice in Noise.

Was just out. Ate with friends at an outdoor picnic table and then walked through a park full of crickets with the friends. My “Voice in Noise” program, with the neural AI, was indeed better in that context than my usual favored setup. I did not think the crickets were muted or muffled or anything with the “voice in noise” program, but it was definitely better at picking voices out of the crickets. I went back and forth between them. This kind of situation was the one time I felt my “normal” (custom setup for me) program falls down, when there are voices and also crickets or birds. Then when I got home my wife’s voice sounded a bit more strident, until I set it back to the normal (not Neural AI) program.
