Those of us who self program and buy used ’s from estate sales and the like often need to know how old the devices are. I know that once you have bought Phonaks then you can check issue date and warranty on Target. However, Oticon Genie does not give this information and I have met with resistance from Oticon and local audiologists with help deciphering a serial number. Is this even a concern to anyone else and if so did you find a way round it?

ReSound and Phonak Unitron first 2 digits of the serial number is year of manufacture, Signia, Oticon are cryptic, it definitely shouldn’t matter much to us ’rs, as in most cases they are throw aways anyway.

The first two digits of the ReSound and Phonak Unitron serial number are the year of manufacture, which you can see on the unit.
