The TV must have at least a 3.5mm output port, if it doesn’t have an spdif/out. The TV Adapter is able to connect to either of these.

What’s the exact model of Has and TV, what “box” are you referring too? This will help everyone offer advice, I haven’t heard of a late model Samsung tv without optical output (toslink)

If this is the Connect 3 adapter it was sold with a Tos-Link cable for audio connection .
I have a 10 years old Samsung TV and it has that entry (Grey).
If you lost the cable it is available in any good TV store.
