Hello from a hearing-tech newbie

Hey everyone

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself.

I’ve recently found myself going down a bit of a rabbit hole learning about hearing, hearing aids and the technology behind them. The more I’ve read, the more I’ve realised there’s a huge difference between understanding something on paper and hearing from people who actually live with it every day.

I came across this forum while doing some reading and thought it seemed like a good community to join.

For now, I’m mostly here to read, learn and get to know everyone a little better. I’m sure I’ll have plenty of questions once I’ve found my feet!

Welcome to the forum. I totally get wanting to study technical specs. Unfortunately it is a much less satisfying obsession with hearing aids than things like cars and sound systems. The info just isn't available. Hanging out on the forum is a great way to learn.

I do believe you've found the absolute best place to learn. There are professional audiologists on here, along with many self programmers.

I'm sure you will get a lot of practical (experience based) information here on the forum. A lot of knowledgeable people here.

curiosears - WELCOME to the family! This is my first day at the NEWLY-designed forum, but I think there is/was a section here? So that could help a lot if you want to roll up your sleeves and tweak things on your aids.

If you wear aids, tell us which make/model and even post an , the better to know about your own unique needs.

I'm still learning how to post things like my own make/model of aids. Luckily, the same ol' audiogram followed me over to this newly redesigned site. Oh, but I'd bet the levels would be even LOWER since that one dates from 2024? Yeah, that's one of life's constants: hearing goes down, down, down, down, down, down, down down. Like a wailing Led Zepellin song.
