Hello all - I am trialing a pair of Widex SmartRIC 440 hearing aids (quite happy with them so far, except for the stupid lack of button!) and have a question about saving settings when using the Compass fitting software.
I’ve successfully loaded Compass into my computer, and my Noahlink quickly finds and connects my hearing aids. I’ve set up two profiles, with the intention of copying the hearing aids’ existing settings (set by the audiologist) into the first profile and then duplicating those settings into the second profile. I could then play with the settings in the second profile while always being able to return to the audiologist’s original settings stored in the first profile.
However, I’m confused about how saving works within Compass.

Do I save the audiologist’s setting to profile #1 by starting a Compass session, then without making any changes clicking on “end session” in the upper right corner and selecting the box “Save fitting in your database”?

If I’ve changed some settings just to experiment but don’t wish to save them, I assumed I could just click “end session” and NOT check the “Save fitting in your database,” and the settings would then not be saved. However, right below the checkbox for “save fitting in your database,” it says “The fitting has already been saved in the Hearing Aids.” Does this mean that there’s no way to choose NOT to save changes one has made in Compass, and any setting changes are in fact automatically saved within the hearing aids without requiring that I proactively save them?
As you can see, I may be a bit confused about the relationship between the database on my computer, the database on the audiologist’s computer, and the settings within the hearing aid itself. Thanks for any guidance!
