How to use t-coil?

My audiologist set up the t-coil program on my Oticon Intents. How do I use this? Internet is giving me conflicting info.

Movies - do I need a special neck accessory or do I just put the app in the t-coil program?

Airport - was at O’hare in Chicago (major airport) and it seems like they don’t have the system for this because I put the program in t-coil mode and no announcements at the gate were coming through the aids.

is finicky. Doesn’t seem to work in airports I’ve been to that state they have it.

are few and far between. When you see a sign with the ear symbol and a T next to it then you can change to the program and see what you hear. You might need to be in a specific spot. The telecoil (t-coil) in the aids needs a hearing loop to go along with it. A telecoil on its own does nothing. It’s the hearing loop that makes the magic.

But again, good luck finding one.

You can use t-coil to help hearing when using a land line. Ask your Aud for a small magnet, you put the magnet on the earpiece of the handset of the phone. Ben you answer landline you place the magnet just over the microphone.

That’s a cool tip! Thank you. I hate phones these days. Even those without hearing loss have issues with sound quality.

O’Hare has no loop for support.

I’m in SE Wisconsin and there are very few loops near me. There is only one loop in my village. On the other hand, my sister lives about 60 miles north of me and there are a lot more loops there.

Thank you…this is great! I was under the impression it was more widely available than it is. Probably why the audiologist didn’t set it up immediately. I appreciate your time on this with me.
