I don't trust the medical system in this country

I am 52 and have severe loss in my my right and profound loss in my left. Needless to say I am probably legally deaf. So I went to my local hearing doctor at the hospital in my neighboring town. Saw the doctor and audiologist. Was tested and sold hearing aids for cash.

Wore the hearing aids as told. Never really helped. They just didn’t work. I figured I was just screwed. Nothing that they can do. I really wanted them to work. So I started researching hearing aids and the difference in design and output. Before long I made what I learn is disturbing.

The hearing aids I was sold were a set of “ReSound - Savvy rechargeable. Here is the problem. According to ReSound. The Savvy hearing aids are made for moderate hearing loss. They don’t possess enough power to ever work for someone with severe and profound hearing loss.

So that leaves me with the question. Were they incompetent? Are are they crooks? Keep in mind one of them has s college degree so I would have to assume that individual possess intelligence.

So now after spending $3200 cash on hearing aids that weren’t even for my degree of hearing loss. I have now purchased a pair of Opticon eXceed 3 sp hearing aids second hand off eBay. I have Shipped them off to HearSource for programming to my Audiogram. If I can even trust that.

I really hope this helps me carry a conversation again. It draining not be able to hold a conversation anymore. This is my last hope as for as hearing goes. But i don’t know if there is going to be a real difference between the Savvy vs. eXceed 3 sp. Or is it just more over priced plastics? One more area to make profit? Is this normal procedure dealing with insurance companies?Sell four or five sets before you finally find your hearing aids?

Well I don’t have insurance to speak of. I can’t afford to waste 15k to 20k to throw away on hearing aids.

But I might be overthinking it. Being out of line.

Please tell me what you think. .How should I feel about what I was sold? Maybe I am jaded cause I am loosing my hearing and put it were it doesn’t belong.

Also any experience with the two sets of hearing aids I have would be appreciated?
