Sorry if this is a bit off topic but hopefully allowed. Has anyone used ListenWiFi? It is supposed to help those of us with hearing issues. It is a Wi-Fi streaming solution that allows people to use their smartphones or venue-provided receivers to access audio for assistive or personal listening. Apparently some churches and auditoriums use it. I am going on a cruise soon with RCCL Star of the seas. They say they have this technologyin their main showroom and perhaps in some other venues. As I understand it, I would be able to connect with my smart phone using the ships WiFi and the ListenWifi app and then transmit to my hearing aid/Cochlear implant. I guess it would be like the streaming I do while watching TV. This would be a great improvement for me if it works as advertised. So I am just wondering if anyone else has been able to use ListenWifi.

Hi. I’ve got Oticon Intent 1 and noticed in church bulletin today about using "listenwifi " to get the audio streamed to my aids, but I couldn’t get it to work… I followed instructions, connecting to “guest” wifi, downloaded the app (listenwifi) to my iphone, but I couldn’t get it to work… anyone use this? I’ve sent email to the church and to the listenwifi folks as well… just wondering if there’s anything other setting I have to worry about? Or do I have to use “connect clip” to get t…

I placed the original question about ListenWiFi last year….my church has it ….. I tried using it and the latency was AWFUL. I gave up on it, but recently I tried again, and it worked better when I muted the hearing aids … I have Oticon Intent 1s …. if I connect to the church’s Wifi and use ListenWiFi app, it works much better with the hearing aids muted….. Good luck and let us know how it works out …..

Interesting. I have a Resound Hearing Aid and Cochlear Implant. When I stream watching TV I always mute as it can be distracting if I leave the mike on. I wish ListenWiFi would have a list of available venues in my area so I can test them. I will post about my experience on the Cruise in the in a couple of months.

A theater in Minneapolis has the WiFi as well as . I called and asked about their Assisted Listening systems and was told the FM was recommended over the WiFi as the WiFi latency was worse.

@member150 I’m N8, I used listen WiFi app last weekend at the Suncorp stadium with the stadiums installed . I found it to be excellent for listening to the Tattoo. It streamed bilaterally to both ears, I didn’t notice much interference from other patrons attending the Tattoo. I’m also going on a cruise with RCCL in a 7 weeks time, I find it interesting that they have a hearing loop in the theatre. Please come back and let me know how the listen WiFi app went for you

The only painful part for me was I didn’t know how to disconnect the loop properly. It wouldn’t let me do anything in the NS app, I couldn’t turn off , couldn’t select my standard scanFF, I couldn’t do anything in the app, my NS app froze. I rebooted that didn’t work. I deleted the WiFi hearing loop app, that didn’t work, so I deleted the NS app reinstalled it, rebooted again and bingo it worked! I’m not tech savvy though, I struggled figuring out how to turn off the listen WiFi app.

I just completed my cruise and sadly Listen Wifi was not available on the Star of The Seas. I contacted guest services and after some research they said it was tested on Icon of the Seas but was not installed on the Star. It sounded like they had no plans to do so in the future either.
