I use Oticon Real 1. We recently went to a live performance in a hall with 1000 people. Everything was fine until the MC asked the audience to show their appreciation. To me and only me, the sound of everyone applauding was painfully loud. I blame the aids for making the loud applause and shouting even louder.
It seems to me that the aids should not have been amplifying the loud crowd noise. There should be some limiting function. I mentioned this to my audiologist, and she said that the aids are not noise cancelling headphones. I’m not asking for that, just asking that the aids don’t make things worse.
Does Oticon have any parameters which would mute them above a certain sound level? Is there anything else that could be done, other than covering my ears or removing the aids?
Thank you.
