MyPhonak connection failure

Audeo 90, Google Pixel 9a phone (Android 16). MyPhonak keeps losing contact with the hearing aids and will only reestablish contact if I reinstall the app and re-pair the hearing aids. Then after working for a while it tells me again that the contact has failed. ‘Stay Connected’ is enabled. Phone calls, music, etc come to the hearing aids OK, so the phone isn’t the problem. But without MyPhonak I can’t adjust the balance between streamed and ambient sound, which I find essential when out and about. This has only started happening recently - maybe a problem with an Android update? I don’t know.

It’s a mystery to me how the app can lose contact with the hearing aids when the phone it is installed on is working with them perfectly well, but what do I know. All the support info tells me is to uninstall, reinstall, re-pair - which I am not prepared to do every time I want to stream something,

Has anyone else had this problem, and found (or could suggest) a solution?

This is not the answer your looking for, but the Phonak and Apple I-Phone combo for streaming has worked well for me in the past 3 years. I dont use the Phonak app, just have a music push button option on the aids.
I setup the phone so it does not stream phone calls, just use the phone’s own speaker for that.

On Phonak hearing aids normaly you don’t need the app to adjust the balance between streamed and ambient sound.
→ it is possible to use the buttons on the hearing aids to adjust the balance between streamed and ambient sound ( same function as the streaming vs ambient’ slider in the app).

the following works during streaming or a phone call
by several clicks on the button to the front you increase the volume of the streaming sounds and reduce ambient (microphone input).
and with each click on the button to the rear you reduce/lower the streaming sound and toggle gradually more to the ambient sounds.

If this is not working during streaming with your setup ask your audi to enable this button behaviour.

The issue happens to me too (I90 Sphere, MyPhonak on Pixel 10a, ‘Stay Connected’ is enabled, Android 16) I don’t have to un-install and re-install the MyPhonak app, though. My remedy is to ‘Forget device’ and ‘Re-pair device’. Also, the disconnects happen less frequent than once a week, not enough to inconvenience me, but they do happen.

The disconnects do not happen to me, if I slide the ‘streaming vs ambient’.slider in the myPhonak app, which I do often in case of the TV Connector (a streamer for TV audio)

The disconnects do happen to me, if I try to connect with the hearing aid in the charger. Of course, it won’t connect, but not only that, the chance of a disconnect happening increases thereafter in normal operation, so be careful not to try to connect to the hearing aid in the charger. (FWIW, I occasionally did that, especially when before the morning coffee I did not hear well, and automatically looked at the MyPhonak app as the remote controller, and the mishap happened. Nowadays, I always touch behind my earlobe first, LOL)
