I’m new to this group so forgive me if I ramble!
I first got fitted with hearing aids 11 years ago at the tender age of 48, hearing loss caused by years of working in noisy workshops & going to loud music gigs! I went to the doctors thinking I’d need my ears syringed to be told I was going deaf & would need hearing aids, not what I was expecting & not what I wanted!
Got fitted with NHS Danalogic iFit with acrylic moulds in both ears, I found the hard moulds uncomfortable so got fitted with full shell silicone moulds which were much better, I asked about but was told I wasn’t suitable due to my level of hearing loss.
Five years later got a reassessment & got SIgnia Motion hearing aids with open fit domes, very comfortable but always getting feedback in my left ear ( my left ear has always been more deaf ) but lived with it.
Moving on another five years I’ve recently had another reassessment & been fitted with Danalogic Ambio with tulip domes, my latest hearing test showed that my higher frequency hearing has got much worse & is now in the severe category hence the need for tulip domes.
I don’t get feedback at all with the new hearing aids but find the tulip domes quite uncomfortable & wonder if there’s another option, open domes don’t work for me anymore, wondering if I’d be better to go back & ask for moulds again?
I like the open fit as much more discreet than moulds but weighing up the pros & cons.
Any advice would be appreciated.
