I was just at my local Costco and they have the new
Phillips HearLink 9040’s on display. They informed me they expect loaners/trial instruments by the end of next week. The price was posted at $1599.99. No other information was available.

From what I’ve read the 9040 adds features related to wind noise and sudden noise suppression, similar to the improvements of the Oticon Real over the More. The 9040 is $200 less than what I paid for the 9030.

They are available with 312 batteries. I ordered a pair and will return my 9030s when they arrive. The fitter seemed to think that the upgrades were fairly minor.

I agree that it seems like minor improvements over the 9030. The 9030 was also available with 312 batteries. I was in a loaner pair until my 9030 rechargeables arrived.
